Quick suggestion: Make the little green dots in the compass that represents Cosmic Anomalies different shades of green for combat and ore sites.
When players see the little green dots and are intrigued they take a moment to check to see if they are anything they'd be interested in. Whether you are looking for combat sites or mining sites, Murphy's Law guarantees it's not what you want. This quickly grows annoying. The ability to see what they are at a glance based on slight, but recognizable, variation in color would be nice. And perhaps the 'level' of the anomaly could be shown by the brightness of the dot.
Or simply change ore sites back to Signatures; probe scanning is trivial. The best solution would be to make a separate class for "Astrogeologic Anomalies/Signatures" (ore, gas, and ice) with its own color. But that would require more work. I'd love it if these were all Sigs, but ORE ships had special niche sensors that could pinpoint them directly, as if they were Anoms (but that may be too much of a freebie). |

or.... you can open the probe scanner and find out what the anom is, without all this hassle.

Still it cant take MUCH more development time to include either letting players change the colors themselves or making one of them violently hot pink...
Also just because YOU dont use something doesnt mean there arent any people who do. Wormholers for a start would love something like this to bits when they are scouting around wormholes. |

It could if all anomalies fall under the same group in the code and that color is assigned to that group
but if it really doesn't take much time i don't see a reason this would be bad

because people have to scan them down to find out what they are, why not just have them so you can just warp to them instead as that would save a few minutes. if the sites can be identified without scanning then whats the point in even scanning?

All you need to do is look at the probe window to find out which anoms are interesting.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.
I couldn't have said it better.

........................ I am stunned by the laziness, when I explore I just put the window up in the side corner of the screen and go system to system launching probes. CCP only made sites so visible to get more people running them. which less people run the mining sites because so sooner as someone starts mining they get ganked at the site anyways.
No to this because suggestion as its not much effort rather you open the window or leave it open, OR actually look around the space.
Im told im lazy enough as is because I choose to play games like eve, but im more mentally capable and score quite high in college because I choose such challenging games.
the only reason id say yes to this is if was over the reduction of open windows that take up your view, not because im too lazy or cant be bothered to open a window

To explain where OP is coming from: Hes probably hunting ratters/miners and using the solar system map/sensor overlay together with the dscan to find targets. Thing is that sometimes you have a system with exclusively miners and to filter the mining anomalies you need to select each from the probe scanner so theyre displayed seperatly or you just dscan with all anomalies showing. This has the obvious drawback that it takes longer. Now if mining anomalies had a different color than combat anomalies he wouldnt need to do that because he sees on first sight which dots are relevant to him. The time needed to find the anomaly the miners are in would be cut short considerably which can be quite decisive when hunting miners.
Also Im in favor of this +1

i think of scanning like a suprise in every system, i scan everything, if there is something i wont run myself i corp bookmark it so someone else can, having the site identifiable will lose this because you will just skip anything which is not relevant to what you want and scanning a system will become such an effortless task

(The names seem reversed. "Signature" sounds like something known and identified. "Anomaly" sounds like something strange that would require probes to investigate. But It's too late to change that.)
This is only so that green dots on your compass don't perk your interest, only to be not something you're not interested in. Good UI design gives people relevant information as early as possible, but in a way that doesn't alter game mechanics (like giving players info they didn't have before about the nature of a sig site (red dot)). |

Please give us the ability to turn off these little green compass marks, and the popup "Legend" window that opens when you hover over them.

Mining anomalies should be signatures, in which case they should not appear as obvious on the overlay thingy. If they keep them as anomalies I think ya got a point, but I am so against that that I can't will myself to support any idea around it. So not a +1 but not a -1 either. |
