Explain it like I'm five, please. Right-click and run the ps1 with PowerShell, enter info, then what?

Ah. I think I know what's going on. None of my EVE directories are simply named "EVE." I have separate install folders for each account, named slightly different based on the main that resides on them. They're also on different hard drives, only half of them the OS drive.
I would send you what output you're looking for, but I don't know where it went.
What needs to change for multiple install directories? Screenshot

Sort of. That program assumes I use the same directory for all accounts, which would break a lot of things.
Michael, I think this is a worthwhile exercise of your skills, and I hope you continue.
Don't mind Faby. If that's how snarky they get over this, I wonder how they get over important matters.

Hey, it worked. Once. I put it in the install directory (normally EVE\ ), because it didn't respond in \bin\. NES worked and everything. I closed the client to try it again, and it has been unresponsive.
I put another copy of the virgin ps1 file in another install directory, and it won't bring up the credentials box anymore. It closes after flashing some red text, too fast for me to read.
I'm using Windows 8.1 64bit
I have a sidebar full of shortcuts to each individual launcher, and if I could replace those with shortcuts to each ps1 file, that would be excellent. It would be a single click client login.
I'm already OK with the routine of opening each launcher for updates, but I mean, if you could make that happen as well, that would be fantastic.

Yeah I tried that, I just don't know how to make it navigate into/past Program Files (x86)\, it gives me an error message about (x86) being invalid.

Yeah, it does work with double-click from outside the OS drive. I still don't see any of the conventional "Run as Administrator" options anywhere on the ps1 or shortcut. For the time being I might have to move everything off the OS drive. This is too good to pass up.
Duh, I'm dumb. Out of Program Files would work too, wouldn't it.
Another quirk I'm finding is the name of the ps1 file is what gets pinned under PowerShell in the sidebar. Regardless of the name of the shortcut I use. Small detail, but everything still works with the file being renamed.
Ok, worked like a charm. Just a reminder, when moving the install folder, you have to go into
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\ and copy over the settings folder for your client into the new folder that's created.
moving install folders into
C:\EVE\ creates a new set of settings folders called
c_eve_eve_tranquility\
You sir have a PLEX coming your way. you've just improved my login experience 1,000% This is glorious
do you know what it's like to have ten launchers open, even if I have a G-Key bound to password+ENTER. One thing that is always true for me is, any type of optimization for one client translates into a ten-fold benefit.

There's also that issue that was fixed rather recently, when clients would make calls for the same assets on session changes.
I also had issues with client crashes that would wipe my settings. When I used the same install, one client crash would wipe everything.
It amounts to mechanical safeguards, for me.

Right? Like, I don't know, the way we wish the official launcher would function, as a passive thing that doesn't become a dud after the initial version check.

Client settings are only half of the problem. The other part is the shared files. I'm aware the launcher and client installs will be changed in the future to share common files. I plan to reverse that, and make sure they remain separate.
For those of you who have had success using symlinks, I'd like for you to quantify / qualify your symlink usage. As in, what type of activity do you engage in, and with how many clients.
Part of the problem in the recent fix for asset calls was the frequency of those calls. The asset call problems were exacerbated by the speed of your hardware. Sharing common files would certainly make the problem more likely.
So Michael, I hope you will allow for distinct installs if you develop this further. The other utility linked in this thread, and the players who use symlinks have decided to share a single install, but the fact is it lacks the mechanical safeguard of keeping game files compartmentalized by client instance.

Oh, it wasn't directed at you, it was just me shoring up a loose end in a point I made previously.
The odd thing about the launcher is why not phone home for an update check after downtime, perhaps once every 30 minutes. There's the issue of the launcher updating itself and requiring a restart, but steam handles that nicely by not restarting unless you allow it, and it maintains updates under its control in the meantime.
Michael, I hope you keep it as simple as possible for yourself. Even something that opens the launcher and closes it 15 minutes after downtime every night is fine with me. It gets the job done. Perhaps a double / sequential activation to account for those times the launcher updates itself and closes immediately (and requires another start to apply a client patch).

I took it to mean SJ would prefer the launcher remains active and effective while kept open, including managing updates after downtime. So yes you can make it close itself after launching, but SJ would prefer it continues working while open.

This is how multiple clients can make calls for the same files, even when input multicasting is not used:
align fleet to gate fleet warp pre-jump each client by clicking gate in overview mid-warp and pressing D ships all jump at the same time upon landing simultaneous session changes
So. Symlinks is a settings workaround, but presents the same problem of asset calls (while using the same install).
