If a player owned structure is capable of detecting a pilots standings and activating guns on him then why can't there be a sensor achored in space near a gate a few jumps out from your home system that will popup a message on screen to all pilots in local of the designated to be warned system?
restrictions: - you must have sovereignty in the system the sensor is anchored in - you must have sovereignty in all systems in between the sensor system and the to be warned system - the sensor is defensless and destroyable by a solo Battleship in approx 5 minutes - the sensors are only sold by NPC's in empire (creates ISK sink and also requires corp/alliance to transport them)
what info the sensor relays: - to start off simple - just the number of pilots with no or negative standings that have passed by it - once tested and true, add features and make more advanced types that relay more info - ship types, pilot names, standings, etc

Hm, i think that makes the role of a player-spy (covops) senseless (in that situation of course). But i liked the idea in Savage where it made sense. _____________________________ - be excellent to each other -

i get what your trying to acheive. and intheory its a good idea. Inpractice its a bad idea from a gameplay point of view mainly because it allows people to become lazy.
Way back when you could see the number of pilots in system (not just the half hour average we have now) then defence of a system was easy because you could see a big fleet making progress up a line of systems on its way to where you were. Thats the reason they got rid of that map feature in favour of a half hour average. Even a 50 man fleet only shows up as a average of 3 in the time it takes them to jump through a system if they don't hang around.
Covert-Ops pilots FTW ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

well if another pilot was in local they would be able to right click for info anyway ... but if a pop-up came up to the pilots in the home system 3 jumps out then you're right a gang might head down to that system ... but if you're cloaked they can't scan you and you can continue on with your spying activities anyway ... you could also play it against the defending alliance if it was an open ended system by sending a dummy fleet in one side, wait for gang response, then send the real fleet in the other side to an emptier home system
