It's still coming in a future update, don't worry!
We have a few graphic updates in the coming releases that will more than make up for the wait!

If you could file a bug report from in-game that details the type of scene (preferably with screenshots) where you experience performance issues we'd be more than happy to investigate.

Each time I'm warping. Not joking. Almost like I'm loosing frames. I posted it in the tech forum as well. FPS 60 to 30 in an instant.
If you could file a bug report in-game it would really help us out as we automatically gather your graphic settings, driver info etc. which aids in our debug process.
Just out of interest, if you set your interval to immediate in the settings menu, do you still see the same FPS drop?

When they remodel your ford car your old one doesn't automatically upgrade, and old models become sought after classics. I know 'databases etc yadda' .....would be cool though?
and it would be a performance nightmare if we would do that

If your rendering engine sucks that bad, maybe it needs some work. Your scene polygon count can't possibly be very high. Textures? No. Having a few more *potential* models and textures to load into the rendering pipeline for a given gate/jump doesn't change hardly anything. It would only increase video card and/or cpu load if both models were present on the screen. If this isn't true for your engine, fix the root of the issue. Polycount isn't a issue these days. Drawcalls are and textures are a ***** in this matter.
ping pong we have a winner but its not only that, it`s maintaining every asset what would eat our time too

MFW the Millennium Falcon is euro spec.
Bunnyvirus, do you lot use the foundry suite of things... Nuke, Mari, etc. I've started an introductory Maya course, among other art courses. This is you know, the best I got right now for space ships, posting for your amusement. I made pew pew noises and imagined it was an updated cormorant. http://i.imgur.com/h0blagt.jpg it's not great, but swords were last week, and primitives was just a couple weeks before that. I have a habit of using Tri's and I'm sure I've missed an Ngon or two.
I`m the only who is using a product from the foundry (modo for modeling) the rest of the 3d artists use maya which i just dont like to work in.
Regarding your spaceship, there were some comments before me regarding adding edge loops etc and thats a good way to start to get a smoove hull
