I use 3 accounts when I mine... with my Hulks, each having 8k m3 space, it takes about 2.5 cycle to fill my hold. with 90% compression.. it would now take.. 25 cycles to fill my hold.. almost 1.5 HOURS of continous mining.
that means i basically no longer need a hauler, which means i take a third Hulk. and all of a sudden i'm getting 50% more ore. same goes for even larger ops!
oh, so you're saying you wouldn't have hauled it anyway? or that you wouldn't have used your mining ships? or are you just saying that hauling in the identical amount of ore you could already have mined and hauled before is some how different?
Don't attempt to explain it away with faulty logic.
Think about it, no matter how much you can mine now, you can't say that this would make you mine any more than you could before, because you still have an identical situation of it taking the exact same amount of time to acquire it, and haulers still can and would be perfectly applicable in an operation or solo should the pilot choose.
There would be no big influx of material since there would be absolutely no change in any way of more being produced because the very same limitation of being able to MINE it is and always has been the biggest constraint. The difference between an industrial hauling in the ore, or the ship that mined it is literally meaningless, at the very best it is a matter of a few minutes of difference, which is hardly grounds to say it's changing anything of any significance, most especially not enough to effect the market in anyway since the same YIELDS are the final determinant of production, not whether or not you can haul it in your mining ship or your industrial ship.
You may as well say that a mining ship shouldn't function at all unless it has a hauler with it in gang, which is obviously preposterous, so why on God's green Earth should a mechanism of Jet-Can mining be heralded as the only answer when even the developers say it should not be which is precisely why they let ore theft go completely unchecked in any meaningful way.
Saying ôwell I would just use another miner instead of a haulerö is also a moot point, because using numbers to get more is perfectly possible now, choosing not to do it is up to you now isnÆt it?
Again, since you are apparently missing the point entirely, you couldnÆt/wouldnÆt mine even one single unit of ore more than you already can/do, all this would do is let a miner hold what heÆs mined. There would be no change in the market because the amount you could potentially mine hasnÆt changed even one iota, and to suggest otherwise is silly.
Trying to suggest that multiple accounts would break the market is equally inaccurate, because since day one numerous people have had and choose to use multiple accounts simultaneously for numerous reasons, in this case to mine with. Now do you genuinely believe that there arenÆt people that already use all of their accounts to mine-mine-mine and then use one or multiple to haul?
Please donÆt bash compression by saying it would mess with the market when it is perfectly obvious it would not change anything that canÆt already be done in one way or another. The one and only thing that ore compression would do is save a lot of headache and keep complaints and petitions about ore theft way down by nearly eliminating it.
While technically you are right, for pure mining figures using 3 barges as it is now, would be no different then using 3 after the compression skill are added. However the difference comes purely and simply from hauling time. atm he would have to dock all 3 barges roughly every 2.5 cycles, with compression he would have to dock after 20ish cycles. That would make a huge difference in terms of ore mined over a period of time.
