I have been trying to craft a blueprint i got from a friend... so i docket at a station with a factory, now i just noticed the que to craft is like 10 days... hmmmm, i must say, i got surprised.
now remember.. you a talking to a player just started... but how can i craft BP w/o waiting that long in que?

Find a different station with a factory facility. Lots of them do have free production slots, but you may need to travel a bit away from the hubs.

There are 4 kinds of thing you can do to a BP.
1. Manufacture 2. Research ME 3. Research PL 4. Make copies
What exactly are you trying to do?

What Juwi said find another station. Use the Lab/Factory interface (the bright blue button in the Neocom) to look for a free slot in your current region. If none are available go to another region. (Lot of stuff in that interface, try not to get confused.)

You can also use the 'staion facilities' filter in the map view to find stations with well... facilities.

Good...a newb question thread so I don't have to start one.
So...just how the [censored] to I get started doing the manufacturing /scientist bit (or are these mutually exclusive>? (I have read the Player Guide and I've actually built a Minmitar Shuttle from a blueprint.
I started Zel with the intent of doing man/sci but have spent the last month running kill missions to see if I'd like to be a fighter instead.
Now I'd like to get back to the original intent of this char, but am not really sure where to start since I'm currently corp-less; running missions, I'm guessing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The scientist bit takes a bit = R&D.
Science V + at least one of Engineering V, Mechanic V, Electronics V.
Then you need the specialist science skills.
After that you need to find a corporation with R&D agents. Run missions for that corp to build standings so the R&D agents become available to you. Then sit back and prey that the Kali release will sort out the T2 BPO situation. Though you may get lucky. Some good guides in the sticky's above.
Manufacturing is easier. Just need Industry I and a BPO (Blue Print Original) or a BPC (Blue Print Copy - typically buy off Escrow). Check what minerals you need ... acquire ... then build in a station with manufacturing facilities.
To be economically viable for manufacturing though you need to work on Production Efficiency. This will reduce wasted minerals.
again good sticky's for guides above.

Thanks, Monash.
Science = long term goal...Minmatar Starship looks interesting (although I don't really have much of a clue what that means )
Sounds like on the man end of things the best way to get the minerals needed might be just to continue processing the loot off of kill missions.

This is on my alt char.
I have began training the skills necesary to hook up with a R&D agent. Would it be a good idea for me to begin running missions for ths corp to build up my standing while I'm training these skills? I've got enough basic skills to fly an Atron with a 1Mn AB and a cargo expander. So would have to do courier missions. But if it will make my R&D results better then I might do that.

The higher your standing with the corp, the higher level and quality agents you can work for, and those obviously give much Research Points, which in turn gives a better chance in the lottery to win the BPO. So yes, working for the RnD corp with non-RnD agents while waiting for the skills to catch up is a smart move.
With that said, some people have been doing "research" for 3 years, and never got a T2 BPO. And others got multiple T2 BPOs who have been in game only a short while.

Yea I know how hit and miss and totally random it is. But I guess I might as well increase my chances every way possible.

Yes, Sovelis.
One point of advice for anyone getting into research: get the best research agent you can. Although most of you understand the system, it bears repeating.
A Level II -17 quality agent will always be immensely better than an Level I 18 quality agent.
/grandparent mode on When I was your age, we didn't know about research and stuff like that. So here I sit with a level one agent in Starship Engineering and 25k of research points. Over a year of research -- I'm not going to give it up, but I know I will probably not get a blueprint. /grandparent mode off
So the point here is to decide what you want to research, well in advance, as it will take you some time to get there. Don't be tempted to go get that level one agent as soon as you can. While you are waiting and training the needed skills, do missions for the company that will be hosting your research, thus allowing you to get a higher agent.
Best of luck, Kern
