No way it was said, nothing is impossible for a dedicated addict like myself
You saw me run it on my cellphone - Linkage You saw the ultimate small computer toy - Linkage
And now I present EVE on your PSP! (for those that haven't realized what PSP is; Sony PlayStation Portable(TM)).
There are no software, firmware or PSP thingy to my knowledge that allows you to get EVE into your little machine, so I decided to make something myself.
So I written a small (and lame) program that simply takes screenshot of your computer and with its included webserver allow your PSP to view and control it via the PSP Browser. Yeah not true EVE, same technique as the java remote desktops for your cellphones.
And the result... 01. Login 02. In station 03. Screen resolution 04. Resolution: Screen Fit 05. Resolution: PSP Format 06. Resolution: 800x600 07. Resolution: 1024x768 08. Writing text 09. Writing text #2 10. In station again
So this is suitable for passive EVE things, not PVP because of the update speed The bad thing is the small memory the PSP has when browsing as it runs out very quickly when using high resolution. But if you are just browsing the market it doesn't really matter as you simply update yourself and the memory is freed up.
In higher resolution you are able to scroll around the screen and write, click whereever you want.
Now, who wants to marry me for a copy of the software?

Buy me one and I'll look into it
As for you other addicts - the alpha
Now I take no responsibility of anything haha, it is buggy. There is a problem writing text.
Leave the refresh alone for now. Unpack, start both exe's and don't mind that it looks like crap I am converting the main exe to .net later on and merging the two files.
So for now this is what you get, there might be other things in the future when I have time to modify it just wanted it to work.

Nothing needed to be installed on your PSP, it works with the PSP Browser, so just start it and surf to your IP (if you run it on port 80 that is otherwise ip:port).
So yes, of course you need to have access to a wlan (or hook it up via usb if that is possible) stupid of me not to mention that but I figured it was self explained as EVE is an online game.

right, I really should have said a bit more lol, just minimize the two exe's, there's nothing you need to do there.

You might want to turn of cache in your psp so that it does not cache the screen (thus not showing updates).
And when writing add a {enter} after your text to send an Enter stroke after the text. But writing is a bit buggy so...

If you run in PSP Screen mode you prolly have to scroll down ([]+down)
else try in Screen Fit and see if you see the menu. all other modes need to be scrolled in.

I can see this being very interesting to anyone with a PSP. How about making a little web page showing it off after you get a more stable build out. Then have it posted on Digg or something.
The only bad thing about this is that 'The Chribba Network' would get hosed for a day or so... and I don't even want to think what it could do to your bandwidth.

I think that some extra 1000's maybe people downloading this wouldn't really make much of a difference on my network taking in note that EVE-Files already generate about 350-400GB of bandwidth per day, so 100,000 people downloading this would only generate about 30GB extra, so unless there is 1,000,000 people doing daily downloads of it I should be fine :) Altho I'm not sure I want to make a super webpage, I'm not doing it for fame

I'v just used this properly for the first time and i'm VERY impressed.
So heres alittle bug report for you:
1: Eats up memory VERY fast. Is there now way to get it to auto flush itself? 2: Text entering is a little iffy, adds a bunch of text to the end of a line. 3: Image quality is a little off but then, I guess any higher and it will kill the cache even more.
Thats my only problem really.

1. Yeah I know that's the main problem with the PSP, too low memory. Auto flush would be if I made it refresh completly now and then (eg you flush it when pressing update). But even that could become annoying if you are in the middle of typing something and everything refreshes suddenly. 2. Yeah I know it adds a bit of text, I saw that too late but it is getting fixed (along with a small readme of all special text). 3. I can change the compression a bit most likely to enhance the quality without making it kill the PSP even more, will see what I can do about it.
Thanks for your report!

Superb job. I had a fiddle with it and was quite amazed at your design. This isnt just for eve, you can use it for anything you like (watching share prices rise and fall on the web, etc etc). However, once the bugs are ironed out, and some way to prevent the memory buffer from going haywire is fixed, it should be superb.
Small recommendation. Change the default pass to .... or something to save having to type it in , and yeh I know I can do that myself, but I mean for everyone
Congrats on a great little tool

Ohh I was looking to see if a new version had been released, I was about an hour early.
I'll give this a proper try when I get home and, if I have any problems give another little bug report.
I really hope you make this into a full blown project. There is massive potential in this :)
Can I ask what you changed this time around so I can check em out and bug check? :)

Should add update info in the readme next time
Changes 1.1 - Capture and server merged into one EXE. - Converted to .net framework - Screen updating upon request rather than continously Meaning screen refreshed when screen is requested not in the background - Password gave error if less than 4 chars (max is 4 chars) - Screen did not update correctly when typing - Typing added unwanted characters - General small fixes - Smal readme file added

Nope, thats real. Uses a remote desktop style. It sends a screengrab of your desktop to the PSP, and then you can interact with it from the PSP remotly, from anywhere where you can get on the net :)
Now.. *downloads* Time to try :) Hopfully that new bug I found in the old client wont persist. Its started crashing randomly :/ (old client, not the 1.1

Package has now been updated, and the error my test machine gave has been taken care of as it seems.
For those that get a "class not registered" error when starting run the "runme.bat" once, it simply copies the mswinsck.ocx to your system32 folder and registers it. That should resolve that issue.
The Compability error some people received should have been taken care of as well.
Keep me updated.

I recived the runme.bat error but it all seems to work fine.
Making an extended check right now while in work, will post if I find anything. One small thing i've noticed is that it still auto refreshes on boot, yet your patch notes says it shouldn't? Or have I misread?

Actually that means, it will still auto-refresh. But the screenshot taken by the server won't be taken until you request it.
Before it would take a screenshot every 5 seconds when the server was running, even if noone was connected to it. Waste of resources.
Now instead, when you ask for a screen it will take the screenshot then display it.

Ahh cool, fair enough. Had it running for 3 hours now, not a single problem yet.

Maybe some protocols/features can be added to the eve client for mobile pc's/notebooks/pda's/etc that allow custom programs to access parts of the game without having the entire client loaded up, as mentioned just to do basic tasks and not full on flying around etc.
But this project here is a fantastic concept, negative comments arent really helpfull for a handy project like this, someone will always find a use, and if not dont slag it off.
Top marks, looks awesome.

I don't know if this is correct as I don't have your router. But check this Linkage and step 6.
Port is the port you chose in the PSPDesktop.cfg (80 by default).
Hope it helps.

Eh, heres what tht IT guy here at work had to say about it when i asked him.
"Ok.. First you need to log into router. Then under firewall menu most likly you will find DMZ. Set your DMZ host to the IP adress of your workstaion. Then on the internet port you should find your WAN IP address. Basically you are redirecting all call to your WAN IP adress to your local workstation.
Just be aware by doing this the entire internet can see your workstation and it can be hack city. So you have been warned.."
Sounds bad...what response do you have to that?

My response to that is to only allow incoming traffic on the port you run PSP Desktop on, but how you do that is another question since I don't know your router.

Hey I'm connected with my PSP just fine (with the exception of that damn cache getting overflowed), but I have two questions:
1. Runme.bat
Are we supposed to run it first and then the exe file? The readme dosn't specify on this and I don't see the differance whether I run it or not. Please clarify...
2. I can't click anything?
I can't interact with my desktop! I have the radio button set at left click, I can SEE my desktop on my psp, I'm running @ the lowest resolution... Do I click by just tapping X on my PSP? Please help.... I need this.... bad...
