What's recognized as prejudice under the law doesn't include things like that. Unless you want to argue that being a member of goonswarm constitutes a 'Criminal background' or a 'sexual orientation'.
Race, religion, sex, physical disability, national origin, sexual orientation, criminal background, or age are what's prohibited. |

It's a game. Those of us who understand that, that people are playing personas, imagined roles, characters fulfilling the lives they can lead within that game, would continue to play it.
Insecure and paranoid people, who honestly believe that someone is going to come kick their butt over what happened in some spaceship game, would probably quit.
The entire basis of this question seems to be on the assumption that there are a large amount of very violent people who play eve, and given the nature of the game, and people that I have met, I think that is INCREDIBLY far from the truth.
I doubt EvE would change much at all. |

It's not paranoia if it actually happens.
I would argue instead that those creepy, maladjusted individuals who cannot keep the game within the game should be forced out of this community, excised like the infection they are. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

The premise of this thread is fundamentally flawed. If someone else in EvE doesn't already know your real life details, you haven't actually started playing yet. Believe me, anyone that wants to know who you are (aren't) will know as much about you as your bank does.

There's a beautiful beach community where some friends of mine live and the general rule for all the condos in the community was to leave their doors unlocked (even when they're away). This was to demonstrate that being open didn't have to succumb to bad human behavior, and that it really didn't matter enough if you locked your door because someone who wanted to break in could break in at any time.
But humans are bad monkeys.
One night, this fellow (not a member of the community) got drunk and had a full bladder. He wandered into the condo community and eventually jiggled a door open. He then proceeded to urinate in the living room, fall on a glass coffee table and shatter it, and then went to sleep on one of the couches. The community started locking their doors since.
The point is, you don't put locks on things because their 100% failsafe. You put locks because they significantly reduce the chance of something breaking in. There are no guarantees in life, but life is unapologetically cruel to those who come unprepared. The game would become a lot more popular.
Biggest thing holding this game back ATM is the space bully attitude. Go ask another MMOers why they won't play EVE. The most common response you will get will be, "the players are too harsh".

A lock helps keep an honest person honest. It makes no difference to a crook who can bypasss it in a matter of seconds. |

That is a good thing. I wouldn't want such people playing EVE in the first place, and I have in the past done my level best to chase several of them out of the game. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

Just think of the Miner Grab Bag. More than half of those are real life threats.
Why CCP tolerates them only when they are made against gankers is beyond me. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

Probably because they can I'd be willing to put money on it being they don't complain as loudly. I've got a folder specifically devoted to the amazing amount of death threats I get from failed recruitment and awoxing. It's astounding what people think is acceptable to do over lost fake space money. This post was loving crafted by a member of the Official GoonWaffe recruitment team. My corp CEO has at least enough information about me to narrow my identity down to a range of ~20 persons. And, let's be real, digi probably knows what I'm going to have for dinner tonight before I do.
On the flipside I know the real-life identities of several people I have played with at one point or another - not all of which I am on great terms with today.

Rather different. From what I have heard, the midget guys who ride racing horses get laid like tile.
Since unicorns can only be ridden by virgins, it would present a bit of an issue. They'd have to recruit from Reddit fairly heavily I imagine. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."
