Digi told me the other day that the pork tenderloin I was defrosting would be better served with kale, lentils and shallots instead of roasted potatoes. It helped! Twitter: @EVEAndski

I'm not even a Goon.
And I never bought calamari rings.
One time I was leaving a mall and I forgot where I had parked my car. Digi sent me a text message telling me where my car was parked relative to where I was standing, and that he topped off my brake fluid. He also told me that my tire tread depth was too low to safely make the weekend trip I had just planned. Twitter: @EVEAndski

There are loads of problems that could come out of being forced to use your real life identity in this game (or any game), and it has nothing to do with sociopathic carebear morons who think that they are entitled to harass people IRL for killing their hulks.
Some people don't wish to have their real life identities connected to this game. They might have jobs where such a connection would be unfavorable. For example, your boss might not take kindly to you playing vidya games on your own time because if you do you're obviously playing them in the office instead of working. A less ignorant supervisor might not be happy if they find out that you play an MMO where lies, treachery and deceit are accepted norms, no matter how much you insist that all you do is mine asteroids. Worse if you work for a financial institution or are a public servant or intend to run for public office.
There's also transgender people who have not completed the process for a legal name change. The credit card they have on file is still under their original name, and such a thing would risk outing them (just google 'trans outing' if you aren't aware of how dangerous that is)
And some people just don't want to reveal their real life identities to strangers on the Internet. That alone should be a good enough reason to stop wanting to strip anonymity from EVE. Twitter: @EVEAndski
