Please give us feedback on the (still WIP) character selection screen.

While we're on the subject of the new character select screen, I'll list some known issues with it to avoid unnecessary bug reports once its back up on Singularity. :)
* The ENTER EVE button is placeholder. * The RUBICON expansion logo can disappear after res or UI Scaling changes. * There is no delete option for the characters as of yet. * When docked in a ship, it displays you as undocked and in a pod. * Characters overall total skill points is still to be added.
Anything else you encounter, please feel free to create bug reports. (if you want to go the extra mile, you could prefix them with CSS: to make it easier for us to find them but it's not necessary)
Also, any general thoughts, concerns or ideas about this feature please sling them in this thread.
Hope this helps!

all brand new, but one thing is old and I'm sure you all missed her voice while logging in. having Aura say your name, Uhm.. that will take a while to get working. ;) would require a different system, so the voice would actually change, and that would probably require five full time jobs in just replying to all the complaints from that :D Bj++rn Jacobsen | Audio Designer | EVE Online & EVE : Valkyrie | CCP Games | Anything sound related, ask away.Killing is just means of communication |

Can we get her back for a few days?
That was an idea, and we have been iterating on it a lot - but the actress who performed it, doesn't work as a voice actress anymore (so I'm told), she moved to the US and some other things. So it would have to be for a few days for sure, but to make it all fit together, it would most likely require that all the voices were re-done and not just anything new.
But yea, that could work - it's not up to me, but we will most likely discuss it again.

Regardless of actually using a computer. Airport announcersJust imagine what stuff Eve players would come up with ....
That too, anything out of the ordinary would sound terrible - and EVE players tend to have out of the ordinary names as well as combinations that would be impossible to mix without it sounding like two separate recordings. It could (COULD!) be done with synthesis, but again, anything out of the ordinary would sound terrible and if it didn't sound terrible, that synthesis algorithm for voicing would be worth quite a lot of money. We agree that the colour is currently too strong in the current version so this will be toned down before release. Also, the UI colouring will change per expansion so it won't always be red.
As for the background, it will remain a static image to save on load times but a bunch of polish, including animations has still to be introduced. Team Kuromaku |

We've now implemented the single click log in as well. It'll hit Sisi soon.
Just to be clear, that's 1 click to select the character, and 1 more click on them to enter. (Double click still functions as well)
We won't be removing the 'Enter EVE' (or as it should be: 'Enter New Eden') button though.

Abdiel Kavash wrote:Would it be possible to always have your chars in the same order? As it is now, every time I try to log in, I have to look at all three characters to see which one is the one I want to use. Even though this takes just a second, it would be easier if the characters were always in the same order and I could click the right one just by memory.
Is there a particular design decision behind shuffling the characters around every time I log in? I could sort of understand the last character used being selected (as in TQ now), but I logged into Sisi now and the last character I played was at the end of the list.
We'll be implementing the most recently used characters to the left hand side soon. Team Kuromaku |

Hi all
If you now log onto Sisi, you might notice quite a bit of changes. The "Enter EVE button is gone, and also is the notion of "selected character". Now you just mouse over your character, it lights up and you click it to enter the game.
The 2nd/3rd character in training, as well as the PLEX/ETC counters should now be displayed as a logo and text telling you how long there is left. Clicking on those elements will open up the account management page.
We have shifted the screen when you have camera offset + ui offset (for dual displays).
The current background is a placeholder, and I'm looking forward to getting the real one :)
We are in polishing mode now, and will be tweaking colors, fixing overlapping issue as well as other issues, moving lines one pixel here and there.
One of the main goals of this screen was that it had to load fast, and as cool as it would have been to have 3D characters in it, that would never have met that goal without some serious work being put into optimizing the character loading, which at this point we were not ready to do.

I can't make a screenshot, because it takes one of my desktop and not from the game You mean your corp logo? No it's not my corp. The cross in my logo is blue. I changed it to transparent on SiSi but it takes time to refresh in the Character Selection. EDIT: It refreshed. Here is a screenshot. Is this on Sisi now? We just created a new effect for those pictures in the character selection screen, so maybe it need to be tweaked a little bit (the new effect is new on Sisi as of last update). We're adding in new animations to the general UI so that should bring in a bit more movement overall. However, when it comes to making the actual background animated, this is something we are looking into for a point release.

Altrue wrote:IMHO there are still a few minor issues with the Character Selection Screen : It has way too many red/orange colors, the ship's displays are confusing about the size of said ships, and some color transitionning are too pronounced, e.g : from white to dark orange.
But I must admit that the selection screen is now both fast and pretty, you've made me forget my regrets about not seizing the opportunity to make a full 3D avatar render. (This choice was made for the sake of optimization so that's okay :) )
Edit : Also, opening the redeem menu makes the background move, not sure if intended, and quite unusual.
We have a system in place so that the UI will adapt to the colour scheme of the current release, this one being red and orange. The size issue with the ships is something we are aware of and may be tweaked soon as are the other issues. It's by design that the background moves when you open the Redeem window.
As mentioned though, work will continue here and there on it as CCP Karkur is very attached to her work and only wants the best for you.
