I would really like to see the EVE online soundtrack get polished with new synthezizer tunes. All respect to the composer Jon Hallur cause I love his music, and that-¦s why I think his work deserves this update. where were you when they said less than 5% of players listen to the game's ost? You may gain the knowledge, but you will lose your belief, with all its mystery and comfort. If there was proof, absolute and certain, there is an afterlife, why not quit this life, and be done with it? Ponder about these things all your life, and you're a philosopher. Compress these ponderings into a couple of pages, and you'll go mad. |

I finally turned the music volume up for the first time in about a year.
The music is great as always, but gets way way monotonous, way too early.
I liked being able to manually skip around the tracks.

I don-¦t mind so much about the jukebox. There-¦s always youtube to jukebox EVE music from. ;) Remix is more what I want, and a couple of them of the same track. All mixes should be Jon Hallurs work. Like this one for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAacPQxjezA And this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSWJKBxRXuo

I know what you mean, but Youtube, even just music selections, is actually playing a 'video', not a 'low-power' audio track.

Yes, that was CCP's 'claim' back then. I found that hard to believe, tbh. Sounds more like the figures for the idiotic ingame 'Notepad' if you ask me. Why do bikers wear leather ??-á Because chiffon wrinkles too easily.-á -- Paul Lynde |

First, I never see any difference if playing from youtube or not. Second, play the EVE tracks from your folder instead then. "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." - Winston Churchill |

There was a survey that everybody was more than welcome to respond to and that clearly showed that people wanted the jukebox removed.
But for sure, there was a lot of thought put into it - but having adaptive music removes the use of the jukebox.
you should use the music from the soundcloud page if you want that. or if you don't like the current track playing, there is a "hack" around it - go to the menu, turn the music volume to zero and up again - and a new track magically appears. Hi,
Consider it done. I'm more than happy to write more tunes.
Regards, J+¦n Hallur
p.s. If you wan't to skip a song, you can enter the settings window (ESC key in the client), lower the volume of the music to 0, and then back up you will get a new random track. Perhaps we should add a skip button somewhere if it is needed. |

Hahaha what joy to read. Really feels great to start a thread where so many devs and Jon Hallur himself replies :D A warm feeling washes through my heart =) Either I-¦m crazy or Jon Hallurs tracks to EVE really rocks =) Can-¦t stop listening to the tracks when I work nightshifts in my securityguard car =) Probably it-¦s both :P
Glad to hear that you would make more music, Jon. And yes, Below the Asteroids (my favourite track) deserves a sequel. This track is EVE and New Eden in a nutshell. I would like to see Theme from Jita be evolved as well. Made it last week in my cheap keybord :P. Really nice tunes. The from Jita just make me feel calm and proud to be a trader.
PS. Please make two tracks as well for me: Gallente sissies and Minmatar rats :P "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." - Winston Churchill |

Would it ever be possible to have more context aware music selection? Like, it would know when you are in PVP combat and play more intense music? |

That might be tricky, but it would be good if doable. Ideally there would be a selection of several different "combat" tunes for it to choose from (the same one every time you lock something might get a little too repetitive for some of us). To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

I'm pretty sure anything Hallur makes would be a great addition.
Considering the couple of Hallur tracks used in lowsec, and the (none?) used in nullsec, could use some new songs built around those areas. Wormhole could use some of that as well. |

A shortcut for 'Next Music Track' would be nice, I find a lot of the tracks too slow paced or otherwise not fitting my current mood, so I usually keep music turned off and play other MP3's. since a lot of devs are apparently reading this thread i wanted to mention that it would be awesome if you could disable those mission specific tracks. If you are in faction warfare space and activate an acceleration gate the same track will start playing and stop whatever is playing ATM.
i really like eve music, esp the new lowsec and nullsec tracks but i still had to turn it off because was hearing the same track in a loop when roaming. (i remember even CCP Soundwave agreed as he was asked in an interview if this could be done) eve style bounties (done) dust boarding parties imagine there is war and everybody cloaks - join FW |
