We are working on this!
It would be helpful to get machine specs from everyone experiencing this issue. We've been unable to reproduce this so far, but I'm wondering if there is some pattern to what machines are affected.

Except on 1 of 3 accounts since the patch on Tuesday I m black screened at char selection. One account seems to be ok for some reason. If I select the place where char should be it goes into game, Copies on mumble comms see me in local or corp chat but I have either a crazy pixilated and frozen screen or a black screen. Have run the Disk Utility to verify and repair permissions to no avail. Could you try running without Mumble? Does that make any difference?

We have not had any luck in reproing this, but we have a patch going out tomorrow where we have at least an attempted fix.
I've gone through all changes to the graphics engine that went out in the patch that seems to have triggered the black screen on character select, and we're basically reverting those changes when running on a Mac. We're grasping at straws here, but I feel we have to try something.

If you have logs or other info related to the black screen issue that would be helpful, yes. Either attach them to a bug report or send them to me (or links to them).

I also submitted a bug report, as I could get a bit further with finding out why I have the black screen on certain accounts. Thanks, your report might have some clues. We're trying some new things - this may boil down to a combination of specific hardware and screen resolution, possibly some more factors.

Find someone close to you who has the issue and pay them a visit. That might take less time and money that you are spending on the issue now. Anyone in Iceland running into this? If so, get in touch!

I'm hoping to get the build out on a test server today so we can at least see if the code change helps - check back later for details.

Just to ask, is anybody running EVE at their normal monitor resolution? Or do you have a second display connected to your mac at all? CCP Paradox | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Super Friends @CCP_Paradox |

Those of you with a second screen attached, just for an attempt could you please disconnect the display and try just on the one screen? Also, do you have anything else running while playing EVE? Internet browser, viewing videos, or something else? If you do, try closing all applications down and just try EVE.
I am reproducing some things right now, and anymore information would be handy to have. CCP Paradox | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Super Friends @CCP_Paradox |

For the Frequently freezing up part. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=318689 (Flicker crashes) I have Firefox running every time I crashed but I doubt it has to do with it. If so, I'm running no other applications, only EVE. However, I obtain this crash when many ships are in space at one time, for example being on the Amarr undock crashes the client always within a minute. Try it by moving around the camera at the populated Amarr undock and see if it produces the flicker crash.
Don't doubt, Firefox and all modern browsers use hardware acceleration. If you're experiencing the issues you've detailed, I'm sure you would try anything to get it back to normal. We're still investigating all the avenues we can find for this issue, so that's why we're looking at the general environment you're playing EVE in. If this is a combination of machine + account, would it be helpful if you received the cache/settings/library files of someone affected, put these on your own machines and tried to get in game as that character? We've tried - looks like it has to be the exact same hardware/OS version - we can't get this to happen inhouse with the exact setup from a user that gets this consistently. The only difference should be the machine being run on.

I managed to get my flicker freeze to give me console messages, and found the same issue elsewhere on the internet by none EVE users.
Same issue, different situations. I've posted links to this issue OUTSIDE of EVE with the exact same errors as I encountered.
This isn't an EVE exclusive freeze up... This is very likely a driver issue. We've been hoping to find a workaround, if we can pin down exactly what in our code triggers this. This is further complicated by the fact that we're going through an emulation layer, of course.

We have just put a patch out on Singularity with a bug-fix, which we hope fixes the black-screen issue. We would really like to hear if you can log on and play on Singularity.
How to connect to Singularity
As we have been unable to reproduce the issue, we again depend upon you good folks to tell us if the problem is solved.
Here-¦s hoping it is............

I'm glad to hear this fix works!
There is a patch scheduled for Tuesday - I'll see if anything can be done to get it out earlier but that is beyond my control.
