Today I am posting for the first time to tell a story and bring mental closure to our plight.
Background information:
Our friend, Acheaen, is deployed and serving his country as an American soldier. He requested that we look after his carrier and character, Ishtar Starfire while he was away. He is an exceedingly loyal friend and an exceptionally good man. He has always been there for us whenever we needed him.
The situation:
Eve Animal Control, specifically F.R.E.E. Explorer, an alliance bent on eliminating squatters from wormholes invaded J101612 , the wormhole where Acheaen's Nidhoggur is stationed eight days ago. They requested that we pay them 10 billion isk to leave. Out of honor, we declined. We expected that the Thanatos and the POS would go down, but we tried not to lose hope over the Nidhoggur.
Ever since, it has been my husband, myself, and our good friend, Dad defending the Nidhoggur with everything we've got. (Namely, a Domination tower, fitted well with batteries, a Thanatos and whatever ships I can bring in) We have managed to rally small fleets of friends on 3 occasions, to no avail other than morale boosts. While our friends have offered us help at points throughout the ordeal, we have been putting in 8 hour shifts, guarding the POS and the carrier.
Due to our real life priorities as students and the need to support ourselves via jobs, my husband and I cannot hold the POS any longer. We have unfortunately failed our friend.
Let it be known that we did our best to save Olympia, the Nidhoggur in an attempt to ensure that our friend did not return from duty to a lost carrier and fend off the ruffians that are Eve Animal Control.
What more can 3 people with infrequent support do against a 93 man corporation other than fend them off for a little more than a week?
Thank you for your time.

I am glad to see that you put up a fight but the numbers game will always win.
My suggestion would be to try and pull assets from the WH (unless your POS is **** caged) and find another corner of the galaxy to live in. |

Thank you for your time. This should be a candidate for the next EVE is Real video. Great story, even if there was failure in the end. That three people held out against 93 for a little more than a week is success, and a testament to your friendship with Acheaen.
Kudos to your all, sir!

hire merc, they're willing to do the job for 1~2b.
or pack your stuff and run. mostly likely they want the hole. nothing else.
btw, you shouldn't have put up a faction pos in a hole that has hisec exit. it's a gank magnet. |

i find myself confused.
a pos will stick around to be shot at, fair enough.
but you state you have both the carrier and character/pilot available to you. the obvious question would seem to be: why didn't you log the carrier/pilot out if the primary concern was the carrier?
the explanation would seem to be reversed otherwise. that there was a pos that needed defending in the hole, and you brought the carrier in to defend the pos and lost it in a cage. |

Look at that, I to am deployed as an American soldier fighting in the middle east.
First please don't use his honorable service as any excuss for not playing internet spaceships. Second, he should have left the keys with a trusted friend. I am comming up on my six month mark and long before I shipped out all assests were moved to a safe place.
Yes, it is a numbers game. that said pulling info off of dotlans and calling out 93 vs 3 is utter bullshit. No corp in eve short of maybe yours has the actual people that is reported. They are called alts. Pull the KB reports, we too are a small group looking to re-light the fire of PVP lost long ago.
I can only watch from the sidelines and this will be done long before I return to a computer and internet that allows me to play, but t there will be another and another and another after we are done with you.
Your Domi tower and nice mods that hang from it has been a beast to work on, but we will eventually take it done and the lootz inside. Calling in mercs was tried by them, to not much more the harrassment (guessing you didn't pay enough).
To all those smaller firey PVP asshats that still want a piece of the small scale PVP LLAMA is looking and I will gladly use this as a plug.
Contact ZIMI VLASIC or Verite Rendition if being a douche and smashing stuff like the nasty scamps we are interests you.

We didn't call in mercs. Everyone we brought in was a friend that donated their time and effort. Ask them. I'm sorry that the value of friendship and dedication mean nothing to you. That's a sad way to live.

Yeah ok. I brought disscussion and content from the otherside and you return with accusations and insults? You know nothing of me or how I live. Try to stay on topic and inside the game.
Truly if you had anything to rebuff my previous post it would have been said. Instead you bring this garbage. I am sure you honor your friend while he is gone, but the fact of the matter is that this isn't about him, or even me. You were chossen for your location, assests, and activity, not because your friend is off fighting the good fight and unable to defend his stuff.
Remeber this is a game. Reality is ----> Good Luck

Honestly I'm having fun trying to bust up this tower, it's been a real challenge for a small operation like ours
Sure it says 93 people, bust a vast majority of that are old friends who are on leave or no longer play, that we keep on out of respect. Once a member of FREEE, always a member.
The reality is at our peak we pull about 15 guys with around 10 actually doing any shooting. Anyone that has tried to go against a large well set up faction tower can appreciate how daunting that is.
You have done a fantastic job defending so far :) |

The great rewards of WH-space ought to come with great responsibilities. You can't expect to reap these riches uncontested in your own little microcosm.
It sounds like you think that the fault is upon the Animal Control Alliance but in reality it is your corp which extended its ventures beyond its capabilities of defending itself. You guys seem to have held the fort pretty handsomely GÇô take pride in that and just accept that in Eve the guys with the biggest sticks take what they want GÇô as should be. |

Ditto, doesn't sound like the full story here. Doubt the Op has posted all of the details. Also, using the "friend is in the military and..." is not an excuse anyone should use. Should have logged out and/or moved.

you guys fought the good fight. good for you. paying ransom is the cowards way out. my advice is just to cut your losses now and move on. just grind up the isk and build/purchase a new new carrier for him. when he logs back and hears the story about how you fought for him and has a new shiny ship waiting for him, he will be over joyed. |

It would at least leave the assets in place and allow the player to decide what to do when he returned. Worst case scenario he'd have to self destruct the carriers and then pod himself back to a station. Best case is the WH ends up empy again when he returns or he hires mercs to take it back for him.
It is unrealistic to think he could just hold onto the WH while away for an extended period. It would have been best to remove the POS and as many assets as possible. Log the Carriers in a safe spot and hope for the best upon return. |

Agreed. It sucks that you weren't able to hold, but this type of annoying crap is the price we pay for living in a wormhole.
Definitely says something about the other guys if they actually brought 93 people to clear a handful out of one wormhole. It's not like it's that valuable. Go find something that's actually interesting to do, losers. |

If I am not mistaken, one of my guys even offered to buy the carrier at a reasonable price. Something like 600-700mil. That could have bought him his new shiney and saved them any trouble. |

I'll clarify, as it was not made clear in my initial post. This post is not to whine or beg for help, it is simply here to tell a story and document that we did all that we could. Now that we have exerted our full efforts, we are in the process of figuring out how to pay our friend back.
We were in the process of abandoning the WH when they showed up, since we knew the carrier would not be safe there. It was not an expectation that we defend the WH, but we were unable to get the carrier out before he got deployed and wanted to make sure his Nid was safe.
Eve Animal Control could have just asked for the wormhole. We would have let them know we were on our way out anyway. |
