gawd im gonna have to say something thats likely controversial reading some of these posts. The CGI intros to any of film or series i have saw is awful at best. I loved ghost Stand Alone Complex but my god the CGI at the beginning left me wondering what pillok was given creative freedom to crap all over it. Remember the beginning of Ghost in the Shell, the credits are rolling you have the haunting girl singing and the whole process of the major being built. Now thats an intro thought prevoking and memorable it had soul.
I'am not saying this because i think CGI is bad (cause its what i do for a living) Its just if you are going to do it there has to be creative reasons WHY you are doing it otherwise the crap you see at the beginning of these mostly good films etc.

The GITS movie, especially the 2nd, was a bunch of philosophical babble without any real place in the movie (it was actually important in the series) and blatantly ripped off Blade Runner, as Oshii always does.
The series is different, and the CGI opening not only fits, but it makes you wish that someone gave the series a CGI makeover - Proud member of the [23].

No no no :) im sorry i totally disagree with you the CGI might fit more with the S.A.C. but they didnt do a good job it looks bad and is poorly directed. Given a team of animator i could quite easily accomplish something far superior to that. I dont say that because i think im great i say it because i loved the series and would do it some justice, and the fact that most of the people i know could do a better job :)

I highly doubt it.
Making good CGI is much, much harder than you think.
Especially since I don't see much wrong with that intro; it looks pretty good to me--about on par with Advent Children, except without the ridiculously silly animation style.
Plus, its a 90 second intro to a TV series. Do you expect them to spend millions of dollars on it? - Proud member of the [23].

Ouch :) No seriously i storyboard with people all the time, half the stuff in the intro doesnt belong I know how hard making a CGI is as i said i do it for a living (but there is my point) if it cant be done, dont do it. I'll ask you to compare the animated sequence at the begining of Ghost in the shell with the S.A.C. - Which do you believe was better. Iknow they are two seperate beasts but it does show you what is capable without sucumbing to a blossoming technology for the hell of it.

SAC was far better... I am personally not a fan of meaningless "somehow meaningful chant sequences with gratuitous nudity."

lol ill leave it with that one i have masamune shirows original artwork somewhere on my bookshelf but i do remember there being far far more gratuitous shots than in that movie. In fact far far far more. The CGI sucked, doesnt mean they shouldnt have done it - it could just have been done better, better modelling, better animation and better direction. Wasnt nice to watch. And there our opinions change course still great series though

I liked Love Hina, I though it was a very nice Anime, and I have the full set of Manga. Neon Genesis Evangelion was also interesting and very though provoking. The worst Anime movie I saw was Metropolis, it was not as interesting as I had hoped.
Thats my opinon Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

I'm sorry, but for pointing out NGE:EoE you DESERVE TO BE CRUCIFIED!! EoE is a clear "**** you" to all NGE fans. I tend to find last two episodes of NGE the best of them all. Why? Because I have looked over them for more than 20 times each, and i still don't understand like 4/5 of. And I keep on watching, watching, watching...but at least EoE can help understand a little bit more about the last two episodes... ------------------------------------------------------

It all sux imo because I hate the way the anime is drawn simply. You asked my opinion and you got it.
But thats not even true in and of itself. Thats also a stereotype, and completely wrong .
Just because crappy low-budget anime that looks like it was drawn in someone's basement looks like junk, doesn't mean all does. And it all looks like Van Gogh when compared to the crap cartoons that end up on American television... everything non-anime looks like it was made in a couple minutes in Flash. And to be honest, I would not be surprised if it was.
P.S. Link fixed, click on it.
Maybe you should stop and take a couple of mins to think before posting as fast as you, you forum *****.
How can it not be true? Im not allowed to think it sux because the way it is drawn? Im not a sterotyping at all, as any anime I have seen I have hated. I hate anime by its very defination.
Still, I took a leap of faith and dled both the CGI thingy and your sig vid. Still think it sucks.

Just because you can't figure something out doesn't mean it has any meaning to it to begin with.
Its quite obvious what the end of Evangelion means (not the movie, the last 2 episodes) if you pay attention. However, all the last episodes really are, are a big philosophical dissertation about psychology and human interaction. It doesn't finish the storyline itself.
The movie, however, completely screwed up its chance to finish the storyline.
If you want something that you can analyze a lot that actually has some decent meaning to it, check out Serial Experiments Lain. - Proud member of the [23].

What is it about it you hate?
The fact that it has intelligent, mature themes far beyond any crap you find on Western television?
The fact that some of it has ideas in it that require real thinking to comprehend?
The fact that the drawing style in any good anime is a thousand times more detailed than anything that has come out of the West?
The fact that a good majority of it simply sucks and lacks the formentioned things?
I might have agreed with you a year ago. But ever since I saw my first good anime, its been impossible for me to enjoy almost anything I've seen on television, because it all seems so mediocre, stereotypical, and simplistic. - Proud member of the [23].

Don't worry...I have seen Lain. But Brain**** by Evangelion is by now the very limit i can handle...at this very moment I can't withstand more than NGE (I somehow like to keep it simple). But will redo it again...soonÖ
I can already imagine the series going "Mmmmm, moist brain..." ------------------------------------------------------

Some people get the CGI thing right, though... (and frustrate me to no end in the process >>;
Last Exile is another case of really nice CGI work, imo... most of the visuals for the episodes is actually computer generated to allow artists focus on the key scenes. All very nicely blended together (though i guess having soft spot for the overall theme used in that show makes me rather biased, here)

Well I hate Dio, I hate Luciola, I'm not much of a fan of Claus, I hate Lavie, and I don't really like any of the crew of the Silvana except for Alex Rowe, Tatiana, and Sophia.

Yeah I really don't like him... he's so annoying .
I really don't like immature and/or "over-animated" characters. I wanted to rip Asuka's head off all through Evangelion, and every time Edward Elric yelled about someone calling him a "shorty," I wanted to through him through a shredder. - Proud member of the [23].

You're missing out .
One day, one day, you will come across something, love it, then realize its anime. You will have a massive internal conflict, with one half of you saying "OMG BUT ITS ANIME IT SUCKS" and the other half saying "OMG IT KICKS ARSE!!!"
