Hello. I am moving around some stuff with PI, and i wanted to know how people deal with the player owned customsoffices
I wanted to set up a few gantry on some planet to reduce my import/export taxes, but i was wondering if they get bashed often? If i put taxes to 0, would it stay up ( more precisely, on a temperate planet, that i would use as a factory ) or would it get bashed as spite. Are there basic numbers for those ? Are some planets more ''valuable'' than other so with often higher taxes ?
I'd like to hear about more seasoned people before going along I sell drones and drones accessories. |

Depends. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

Depends on the locals.

With 0 tax it is more likely to not die than with higher tax... but it depends on the locals. Plasma planets tend to be used a lot, worth more. If there is only 1 barren or temperate in system might be worth more due to only factory planet available. |

I've put up a dozen POCO's in nullsec... I set my tax rates to 1-3%, and rarely have people attack them. I find people attack them for: a.) A fight. b.) Because they don't like your tax rate. or c.) boredom. In general, if your custom's office ever does get attacked, contact the owners and offer to give them 0% taxes, or attempt to sell the POCO's to them. It generally saves them time, recovers some of your assets, and prevents significant losses.
In general, POCO's are a giant, vulnerable asset that just sits in space, so if people can have good tax rates while not having vulnerable assets, it's win-win for everyone. A 0% tax rate ensures the only people attacking them will be those collecting systems of POCO's, or those that are bored.

Thats sounds good.
It is in Low Sec, and one of those planet ( a temperate one) is without a POCO at the moment.
I would use it as a factory, since the system as everything needed to make robotics/coolant/uranium, and so having a very low tax rate would be excellent.
Actually, most of the other belong to a ratherr big alliance, so i'm thinking of warning them in advance and offering a low tax rate in exchange for non aggression. Would that work ? I sell drones and drones accessories. |

Probably not. If they're a large alliance, they have absolutely zero reason to deal with you.
That being said, if there's not currently a POCO there, just put it up and make the tax rate low. If you don't try to rip people off by jacking the taxes out of sight, they'll probably leave it alone. At least until they get really bored. You're definately better off not saying anything - just keep your mouth shut, put up your POCO with your super low tax rate, and spend as little time there as possible.
And how hard they are to knock down depends greatly on who's attacking them - a small corp with a handful of cruisers and battleships may take a few hours, while a large alliance can knock one down pretty quick with a decent sized fleet. Even faster if they drop caps in, although it's doubtful they'd risk caps over a poco shoot... But hey, stranger things have happened. |
