i'm guessing this is impossiable and the amount of sp you have in comabt skills will have a big effect. but can it be done? has anyone done it(if so how). assume that both players have pvp setups and skills but the rax pilot has less sp
thanks in advance

No, unless the HAC pilot had no clue what he was doing or was found with a very bad setup of which the thorax had an exact counter.
I suspect if someone had a raildeimos then.....
In all cases where the HAC pilot was not drunk, the HAC would win.

thorax can beat a deimos using the right tactics, possibly also a vagabond (untested), i dont really want to say how.
i have tested this sucessfully in the field.
thorax can also take some bs out 1v1 , also tested.
some would say the thorax is overpowered , id say ..

Yes, Devvon had recently encounter with a Deimos, to pretty much that effect.

with right setup and better skills (real ones not skill points) you could take down some hacs (hint: sniper ones) but not all of them (hint: close range ones), killing bs`s is possible (hint: if they dont have smartbomb or very good tank for example)

A vagabond can be bagged with a non 1600plate Rax. Use 800's in the plate dept. and then figure the rest out for yourselves.

Aye, non-plated hac vs plated rax generally = rax win as long as it has the right drones and the HAC pilot isn't on the ball.
Personally I've killed an Ishtar (albeit with assistance from a claw), Muninn (running some bizarre 1600mm + 400mm + frig guns setup, with 4 bonuses to medium guns... ok) and Vagabond (pure gank AC, non-plated) in my rax, but in each case even with their fitting if they had pilotted their ship a bit differently they probably would have won. Well, apart from the Muninn, that was just bizarre.

People think inside the box on the platerax. It's like 5 small neuts or bust for alot of ppl....assuming nothing better will fit. Something better DOES fit(not only guns wise) and it's the edge you need or half of it.....hehe

spulm killed an automuninn in a vexor, the crusader on the killmail came in and fired 1 shot, the killshot. Spulm lived in 3/4 structure :)

If a vexor can do it, a thorax easilly can.

If i remember right a few Cosmic Fusion peeps have taken out a few of our Cerberus' in plateraxs'.
They are mean little ships, they are cheap HAcs in all honesty. If you don't want to spend 125mil on a deimos then get a thorax and spend the rest of the isk on a Megathron. You won't regret it especailly when it comes to insurance pay outs.

I see you're finding out something us Hydrans learned a long time ago, Klingons can't fly anything involving under range 8.

MMM celestis MK2, 5 meds, bonus to you know what, plus tech2 you know what plus decent signal suppression level.
Can be done with "mk1" one, but hac will warp out.

I don't think an ibis can take out anything above a cruiser due to passive shield recharge.

I've 1v1'd a few Thoraxes in my Deimos, not lost to one yet, but I do have respect for these cruisers. My last fight with a Thorax saw me lose 60% of my armour with little or no cap left by the time I managed to kill him. ------------------------- CEO of The Establishment |

I would have just said that dragon needs...assistance...at times, and left it with that rofl.

Depends on the mods involved. A thorax with two multispectrals vs. an Amarr HAC has good chance because the Amarr have such terrible sensor strengths. A thorax that packed a few medium smartbombs could give an Ishtar a real run for its money.

Then the thorax takes out his own drones, and the Ishtar launches a second wave of drones after nossing the Thorax to death.
Or, alternatively, both ships lose all their drones and neither can break the other's tank because they're both uber tanked and have pathetic weapons in high. Both call in reinforcements, victor is decided by whose reinforcements show up first.

I lost my zealot in a 1v1 with a thorax. For the most part it was simply down to me being overconfident and well...stupid.
We jumped in on an enemy camp and broke it up. A rax was sitting 60kms above us near a can so I charged in with my zealot fitted for an "ok" tank but mostly damage.
He had me webbed at some point but I didnt notice until I realised he was on top of me and my guns were missing far too often for comfort. Between his blasters and heavy drones my armour was going down a little too fast for my tank to keep up.
By the end of it we were both into low structure but he finished me off.
In the end I tried to use my zealot in an engagement it wasn't properly setup for (I tend to set mine for anti BS not cruisers) and I've paid the price for being stupid (sticking with inties from now on since it's somthing im alot more comfortable with).
Congrats to the rax pilot (wish I remembered the name) and suffice to say, in the right situation a thorax is a very dangerous ship even to most Hacs. If the Hac pilot is smart though it will easily win a fight with any tech 1 cruiser. Part of the real beauty of eve is that no engagement is 100% certain (except for outright ganks).

rax vs deimos
Hardly "pwned", he almost had you, and it wasn't 1v1, you had an inty with you by looks of it, and say it is a taranis, they kick out alot of damage.
A well-setup deimos will kill a thorax in a 1v1 almost always, but as with all ships, anything can beat anything with the right setup and tactics - most often knowing what you are going up against.
