Hey,
I need to get through null unharmed with a battlecruiser.
I don't need combat fittings - I'll carry those in my hold and wait 'til later, so I'm trying to come up with the fit which will give me the best shot of making it through whatever gets thrown at me, gate camps and whatever. The region is fairly quiet (I've been through in smaller stuff).
I'm thinking lots of warp core stabilizers, but I know these don't affect bubbles. Any suggestions for fittings?
Thanks, GB

Yep Warp stabs would be good for a travel fit. - but only for travel.
Beyond that your best bet would be to learn the MWD/Cloak trick. (Search youtube for vids.) Practice it first in hi sec.
Also never fly gate to gate in nul. You'll land in a bubble for sure.
Use the MWD trick to get away from the gate, and warp to a planet (Not a moon) at an angle away from the next gate.
The best way to do this is, set your route, so you can 'follow the yellow brick road' on the overview and solar system map, and from the map, choose a planet off to the side.
This is the best way to avoid bubbles.
But do it in a frig first. It takes practice. And in a clean clone.(No implants). Innominate Nightmare, :"Your Mother is an exotic dancer, and your Sister works in a Quafe factory!GÇ¥ |

TBH there are no guarantees you will be able to get a bc thru null sec. But it really depends on what null sec you are going to and whether it is busy there or not. Your best bet is a cloaky interdiction nullified t3 rather than taking a bc thru. Other than that you should find someone with a carrier who can jump the ship there for you. Someone will need to be at the desti with a cyno ship and fuel for the cyno.
If its npc null sec you can probably expect lots of bubbles and camps from any high sec entry point. |

Go in a covops frig. Once you are there scan a wh chain to hs. Then immediately jump into the bc and run back up the chain. I've done it with an itty 2 and i think it is by far the best bet |

That's really only viable if you are moving bulk stuff since they charge upwards of 100 million for even a few jumps.
OP, Your best bet is a scout, to be honest. If you land in a bubble in a battlecruiser any competent gate camp is going to kill you. You won't be fast enough to get out before you are webbed and tackled and once you are, it's all over. There should be more than enough points on you by the time you break the bubble to make your stabs meaningless. Hell, it's more likely you won't even make it out of the bubble to begin with. This is a bad idea, use a pvp fit so you can at the very least go down fighting and maybe take one of them with you. The mwd/cloak trick coupled with lots of safe spots is likely your best chance if your doing this solo. I would also add a flight of ECM drones just in case.
Oh and insure the ship

To put it blunty...you are unlikely to succeed.
A couple of things you can do to increase your chances are as follows:
- Use a scout. A cloaky covops frig is best but if not a T1 frig will do. -Fitting warp core stabs may save you if there are just one or two guys in T3's on a gate, but if there are any number you're screwed. - Dont take the risk of jumping through a camp because you dont see an interdictor on grid...they will be cloaked. - Have your scout bounce to a celestial near the gate and scan it before committing to jump. - If hell is waiting on the otherside, try to crash the gate with your scout. (MWD on and burn back). Simply safe up and log off for a while and try again later. - Check the in game map for pod kills in the last hour. It gives a good indication that they have a bubbler and you might be joining them.
Its not impossible but dont rage quit in the likely event you fail! |

You've got all the direct answers to this you need, so I won't duplicate them. I do wonder though: why? If you're joining up with a new corp in nullsec, then just sell your BC in hisec and podjump into their trade hub to buy a new one. If you're concerned about the cost of this approach, you're probably flying something you can't afford to lose, and should read up on Rule #1.
Good luck anyway!

Scout first.
set safe points at all the gates, so you don't have to jump straight at one gate to an other, but be in sight of the gate.
a cloak. nano's stabs can but it's usualy bubbles in 0.

Another option would be to fly down in a Stealth Bomber with all the fittings in cargo, then buy the BC hull at the destination.
You could even fly down empty and just make bookmarks 200km off all the gates on the way down and then bring the fittings down on a separate run using the bookmarks for a bit more security, as warping directly to gates, or even bouncing off celestials isn't ideal. |

A BC is vulnerable to being caught:
The biggest vulnerability when traveling in nullsec is when jumping through a gate. You don't know what's on the other side.
Good ships to navigate nullsec generally have the ability to survive jumping into a hostile situation. For example, a covert ops ship evades the hostiles by simply cloaking. Nullsec is particularly difficult to navigate, because of warp disruptor fields (from anchorable bubbles, interdictors, and Heavy Interdictors). The bubbles prevent all ships (except Interdicted nullfied t3's) from warping, and you must first power out of the bubble to warp. Many ships have little hope of outrunning the hostiles and warping off to safety, and must power back to gate and jump out to escape.... frigates are especially good at this, because they can often get back to gate and leave before the hostiles can do much damage to them.
Now, for a BC... .when you jump through a gate and find hostiles on the other side, your options are: Fight.... generally speaking, the hostiles that stick around to tackle you have the backup to kill you.... Run forward... . BC's are generally fairly slow... You will generally get tackled before you can warp, and most ships are as fast as you. This tactic is marginally successful depending on your fit, and the hostiles you are facing. Run back to gate... BC's are generally tanky enough to survive a while.. but fairly slow... With an MWD you can often make it back to gate, but it really depends on how quickly you get scrammed/webbed, how much dps is on field, and just because you make it back to gate to jump to freedom doesn't mean the enemy won't send someone through to catch you on the other side. You can try the cloak warp trick to escape a standard tackle scenario, but a bubble will stop this trick cold. You can simply try to cloak up... but your ship moves very, very slowly when cloaked, and most enemies will take the time to decloak you. The best option... is to NOT jump through a gate into a hostile... and that's why you want a scout.

Unless it is a talos or a tornado, a battlecruiser is not likely to survive, and even still it'll need to fight its way out.
Travel fitting a battlecruiser is not a good move by any means. But if you insist on doing that, my advise would be Instead of stacking up on warp core stabs stick two inertia stabs, a damage control and a nanofiber (for a talos) and add a warp core stab (for a tornado, 5 low slots) - for any other battlecruiser, just firesale it on the local market and pod yourself to highsec. |
