I don;t really have the isk right now to put out a full carrier, carrier, dread, dread, loki escalation. So i'm wondering, could 4/5 tengu's and a carrier in or out of triage survive a single cap escalation? If so that would get me started to get the isk to get the other ships. |

They would survive a single cap escalation, the question would be could you kill off the nueting power before they caped out your carrier. Id say you would need around 6/7 tengu's, but if your doing this in your home system id go with BS's rather than tengu's they do more damage just get yourself 5 abbadons + carrier and you'll be fine. |

Properly fit carrier shouldn't be bothered too much by the neuts from 6 sleepless guardians - I'd second the reccomendation tho to go with abaddons if your starting out unless your running say chimera + tengus in a pulsar.
If your killing stuff fast enough you may not have to triage but it depends a lot on system effects, if you have ganglinks or not, how well your ships are fit, etc. don't under-estimate sleepless guardians - mixed capital RR types won't cut it and they can quite easily cap out a carrier and kill it in little over a minute if you screw up. |

the carrier wont care about the sleepers. not on capacitor, self-rep or remote rep. so just pick ships with the highest damage you can get and decent resistances. |

Is it possible to do it the other way around, i.e. bring a moros, a web loki, and some guardians? |

Its possible, needs some logi pilots that are on the ball and armor links to be most effective tho. |

Don't use tengus, they suck. Use BSs like so: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1808468#post1808468
You can also use dread + loki + 4 guardians if you want. |

I was capable of running all C5 sites with a single triage thanatos and 2 (almost max skilled) armor artillery macharials. Additional battleships just made things go faster. To get an idea for how fast that was, each site took approximately 1 hour and each mach did around 650dps with EMP L, 750 with faction. Sites were able to be completed without using faction ammo. The carrier was also carrier lvl 5, and fighters lvl 4, and would triage for the first 2-3 battleships killed, then leave triage to use fighters to assist in killing battleships. The carrier was never in any danger of being capped out from the NPC's, though the battleships were.
I will note though that doing it with this low an amount of dps is agonizingly slow. Triage usually lasted between 15 and 20min with just these 2 battleships. Adding in another pair of pilots doing approx. 500dps each was enough to cut site completion time in half, and triage time down to just 10minutes. Getting up to 6 dps pilots, triage could sometimes be dropped after just 1 cycle. So yes, it can be done, just be prepared to spend a lot of time completing sites. If you can get a dread in, get it in asap.

I've had some luck with the following fleet setup. I know some frown on Tengus however for dps projection and cost they are hard to beat.
1 Triage Carrier - Any will do but my preference is Archon with 3 Shield transfers, 1 energy transfer and two local reps. 4 (Minimum) RR Tengus Noctis and Falcon (In Carrier) Scout with probes out
Warp the Tengus into the site and finish up all of the first wave except the trigger. Warp in the Archon and enter Triage. Some say Triage isn't necessary but until you get a few BSs off the field I prefer to be safe. Once the BSs are all gone get the carrier out. Keep a Falcon and Nocits in the carrier and have two Tengu pilots switch out into them. Salvage with the two Tengu, Noctis and Falcon on the field.
There are many variations on this but since the OP asked for a minimum this is it. Any carrier will do the job with a competent pilot and fit. I've even seen a buffer Nid work while the Tengus reped it. (Not recommended by me)
Depending on the ribbon drop you should be able to net at least 250m in under 30 minutes. You may also choose to finish the entire site instead of farming it for 3 days. If you choose to do this than get the carrier off the field since the RR tengus can handle the incoming dps without it. |

If youre after minimum numbers, carrier + 2 BSs is it. again, do NOT use tengus. they are horrible for DPS. |

Please understand that in no way did I say this is an optimal setup however it does work. Too many times I've been sitting in my c5 wanting to make some isk and had to make things happen with the pilots and ships we had available. I can easily tribox my Archon and 2 Tengus so only 1 or 2 other people are needed.
I'm not joking at all about the shield transfers on the Archon. You lose the range bonus but with Tengus they orbit the carrier anyways. I prefer Tengus over battleships because they take much less damage due to their small sigs and higher speed. With my skills I can hit 468dps @ 67km using Sourge Furies, >80km with Caldari Navy. This is a steady dps unlike battleships having to account for falloff. Another advantage of the Tengus is they are able to rep each other thereby eliminating the time the carrier needs to be on the field.
We've tried battleships and it's agonizing. We've also mixed it up with both Tengus and battleships trying to include some of the newer guys.
BTW Jack, when we had the right pilots online, we ran c5 escalations exactly the way you advise in your C5-C6 thread. Two carriers, 2 Dreads, a Loki and a Booster. That's by far the most efficient way to run it when you have the people to do it. |

Something seems wrong there... I was bored enough one day to run a site with just a carrier and completion time was little over 40 minutes. (Tho that was one of the easier sites) Was killing guardians in approx 250-260 seconds - on a side note from the combat logs killing a guardian with firbolgs shows an effective dps just under 900 compared to slightly over 380 for einherji lol.
Its something I really would not reccomend, none the least sitting there for all that time in something you can complete in minutes in a dread - also lost 2 fighters to alpha but was able to rep the rest but extremely intensive - didn't help I forgot to fit a auto targetting mod for the extra lock slots. Just throwing in 2x abaddons would have massively cut down the time it took. |
