Offer the option to train into a buffer that you distribute later.
Knock down the training unit's down by 10%.

While I support the option for a long term queue for people who are basically not able to log on for half a year or longer (beeing dispatched for duty e.g.), I personally don't like the idea of an SP buffer. There are so many skills that have a very high multiplier which result in training times of far more than 1 month.
- Racial BS to lvl5 e.g. generate like ~25 days of training time. - BS sized weapon systems to lvl5 require a comparable amount of time. - Capital ship skills require even more time to bring them to lvl5. |

As convenient as it would be, it shouldn't happen; players who don't log in except to change skills are already minimally contributing members of the playerbase. Giving them a reason not to touch the game for an extended period of time, regardless of the duration of skills in the queue, could reduce their attachment even further. Players with reduced interest might reduce the number of accounts being run, or worse yet, result in full blown account cancellations.
Anything that lets players get away wtih not actually playing Eve Online at all is a bad thing for CCP to include. |

Anything that lets players get away wtih not actually playing Eve Online at all is a bad thing for CCP to include. Players who only log in to switch skills arent going top be around long anywys, since they likely dont associate with a community, and community being eve.
however, how about a modfication to the idea?
a new character only has a 24-hour skill queue, after 6 months its extended to a 1-week skill queue, and after a year or 2 a 1-month skill queue. that way new players arent intimidated by this massively long skill queue they "have" to fill every 30 days (potentially being driven off by the queue making them think they will be useless since several months of training would only be a couple queues) and the longer queues would eb used by older players to both assist in their now longer-skills aswell as their already evident interest in the long-term play of the game.
now its 4AM im tired, so there might need to be some clarifying/polishing/arguement over exactly what form this would take if implemented that im too tired to predict. but hey, it sounds good, cause as it is, i can only ever have 1-skill in the queue at a time and it really panes me to see "oh, 5 more days before i can even have a second skill in queue". |

Even logging in to switch skills and doing nothing else is going to do a better job of holding players than setting up a month long skill queue and then quitting for the duration of the skill training. Are they likely to remember when it ends? For that matter, how long until they start asking themselves "I just spent $15 to train skill points for 30 days and I haven't even logged in; why am I paying for this?" |
