People are saying that it's over powered. It's not OP. I've been messing with it on Sisi and here's what I think: Yes it is very versatile. 6/6/6 slot layout pretty much means you can fit it to be anything you want... but that's a lot of slots for a T1 cruiser and you will pay in CPU... you won't be able to fit high powered mods across the board in your mids and lows. The resists are omni for both shield and armor, so there is no one weakness you can exploit. However, the resists are very low. It's pretty easy to bring a T1 cruiser up to 70% omni resists even with marginal skills, if you are so inclined. You'll find on the Gnosis it's virtually impossible. Here's what I think the Gnosis is: It's a ship that anyone can fly, but only a pilot with maxed out exploration, shield, armor, drone, and weapons skills will be able to fly it as it is meant to be flown. The Gnosis is a lowsec exploration ship, pure and simple. It can find radar/mag/ladar/etc... signatures and then run the anomaly in any part of lowsec space. It is NOT a wtfpwn machine. A dedicated T1 PvP ship will kill it if the Gnosis is fit to role. If a Gnosis is fit for PvP it's low resists, low speed, and ho-hum DPS will get it killed. The only way a Gnosis can be effective in PvP is if the pilot is maxed in all his PvP cruiser skills AND is very experienced in using different tactics (kite/ew/snipe/drone/brawlers/neut/etc...). The Gnosis is a maintenance ship... it has 75m3 drone bay (awkward!), lots of mids, and lots of lows. It can fit for a wide variety of tactics. You won't know what you are up against when you fight one... but like I said if that pilot isn't an expert you will probably kill it. I for one am not good enough at PvP to fly a Gnosis, despite the fact that I have the skills maxed. I predict there will be a LOT of Gnosis killed in the days following it's release due to overconfident pilots thinking they know what to do with this thing. It's strength is in it's utility. In a game of hyper-specialization, that's going to be counter-intuitive to a lot of people.
What do you think? Anyone else play with fits on sisi?

my thoughts from playing with it on sisi is:
reduce to 4 turret/missile high slots (this will give me two utility slots one for a probe launcher one for a cloak)
increase drone mb to 75 (to make up for dps loss of 5th turret/missile)
increase drone bay to 150 (to give it done utility)
increase base cpu to 500 (it has problems fitting HML with a probe launcher and shield tank with damage mod)
from its bonus its the most versatile ship in the game now... and i like having a clean slate for a ship it can be fit how ever you like which means its unpredictable... i really hope they make this a full production ship that you can get via soct missions...
At the end of the game both the pawn and the Queen go in the same box. |

I can't say I agree. Like I said, as far as I can tell it's one strength is it's utility. If you want 2 utility slots just don't fit a 5th launcher. If you increase the drone BW or bay anymore you are making it into a powerful drone boat. If you increase the CPU people won't have to make the tough decisions on their fit they have to now. What I think is cool about the Gnosis is that it really can't be fit to specialize well. You'll need to have a little jam, a little disrupt, a little damp, a little web, a little nos, and a rainbow bag of drones. It's not a one tactic machine... it's a grab bag. If you fit to do a lot of things you'll have a real chance of finding a hole in your opponent's defense. If you try to specialize you'll die real fast. I think that's the best way to bring Jove tec to the players. Don't make them ++ber... make them versatile and challenging to fit. It's a vet machine not because of the base requirements, but because it takes real skill and experience to fit AND fly. Maybe we'll see more classes of SoCT ship if CCP agrees with what I'm talking about.
I agree though... I hope they make it something you can get in SoCT missions. atm I bet they are planning a one-time shot of these though...

Agree completely. A nice versatile ship with interesting fitting would be wonderful. I'd like to see SoCT missions and an LP store for them as well - though I wouldn't like to see them being farmed to cheapness. At least have missions like that in dangerous space.
As a side note - The pirate noobships intrigue me. |

I find the Gnosis to be a mediocre ship at best. Because it doesn't specialize in anything it can't really do anything well. I tried a shield fit and an armor fit. Both of which were "Meh" at best. There are better battlecruisers out there. Trolling is like art. Anyone can finger paint, but it takes true talent to create a masterpiece. |

I like the idea behind Gnosis and you make some excellent points about it not being a solo wtfpwnship but if you apply a fleet doctrine to it which I'm sure will only be a matter of time after it hit's TQ then were talking about something else entirely. Can you imagine 100 of these things roaming thru 0.0. At any rate I really like the ship for what it is however a few things I would like to see happen is model it after a already highly capable low-sec exploration ship. The Pilgrim...and yes I mean being able to slap a Cov-ops cloak on it but tone down some of its dps potential to compensate for this. Anyway just a few thoughts from me to you Oderint Dum Metuant |

I like the look of the Violator. That web and damage bonus! If these become fairly freely available I would definitely use the Echo as a tackle ship. But that Violator looks mean. (For a noobship).

My initial thoughts were that this thing might kind of fill the gap between T2 covops and T3 strategic cruisers for lowsec exploration stuff. Say, that it removes the need to work with seperate ships when scanning / running sites at an SP level I'd expect in between these types of ships, as Battlecruisers aren't that much of an SP issue to get into. The first question that came to mind was whether or not it would be a viable ship for C1-3 WH exploration. I haven't played with it on SiSi but I'll probably purchase one ingame once the price stabilizes on Tranquility anyway. |

indeed but i perceive its role as a 0.0 solo exploration/ratting ship and in that aspect it works really really well...
there are lots of systems in npc 0.0 that are not close to stations and if you dont have a pos you are limited to what you can do... so having this ship works rather well for what i am looking for... At the end of the game both the pawn and the Queen go in the same box. |
