Originally by: CCP Guard You can discuss your opinions on CCP all you want and we won't stop you. All we ask is that you guys refrain from discussing forum moderation on the forum. It takes quite a bit of work for our relatively compact community team to keep these forums in good shape, and if every action we take would spawn a whole new discussion it would soon turn into a vicious cycle that not even a legion of ponies could fix. You are welcome to send us a petition if you disagree with moderation.
I hope we can agree on those "rules of engagement".
Peace!

I'm sorry. Ah...just who is this forum for, the paying customers, i.e., "community", or the employees engaged to provide a service? "Rules of Engagement" huh? I THOUGHT forum moderators were around to keep the riff raff out, slander, racial remarks, gazonko politics and the like, and to make sure spammers (in the real sense of the word, not the arbitrary opinion of some CCP staffer) are kept at bay. What are forum moderators doing "ENGAGING" with the users in the first place?
Maybe you haven't heard. This is the world wide web. Only certain "types" of people (who think it's a bunch of "tubes") would dream of intervening in the content of the users (but for the standard, accepted race, creed color...etc.) But, from what I've seen, the moderators on this forum view themselves as active participants, whose moderation consists of trimming, pruning and fiat-ing free speech into the commode of (insert censored word denoting a rather extreme political faction of the recent past.)
What makes it laughable is, the same CCP/employee group fancies themselves as being on the cutting edge of internet presence - but with values that died with the 19th Century. I've seen several threads clipped due to the blanket term "lack of content", while the same moderator was elsewhere being "witty" on threads that had content in the -10 range.
This is why as a moderator you sit on your hands. Race, Creed, Gender, Color and that's it. Let the over-officious language censor do its stuff, and you guys pretend to be what you really are...which doesn't include ENGAGEMENT of any sort. Geez. Hubris has reached atomic proportions.
You know what an atom is? Well...that's a discussion for later...read a book or something.
That would only be valid for a public forum, this is not a public forum, this is a private forum and the owners of said private forum can moderate it in whatever way they please.
The use of this forum is not a right, it is a privalage which can be revoked at any time, they do not have to provide a forum for the game at all, and i know of a couple of MMo's that don't because of troubles they had on the forums.
Simply put (and this bit is aimed in general at all those that complain about moderation, not spefifcially targeting anyone) if you don't like being moderated don't post.
I love the defence of terrible, self-interested customer service here. Just feel lucky that CCP provides a poor product because they could provide a worse product. It's entirely within their rights!
I love people with victim complexes that pretend they're forced to play a video game no matter how much they hate it. "Quit?! What?! But...but...but my time I invested!!!111 I.....I....I can't just walk away!!111 CCP owes me!!111"

No wonder you people are so angry, you're doing it wrong. |
