CSM Chairman replies: ôHumans spend their money on stupid **** all the time, whether theyÆre playing an MMO or whether theyÆre buying sports cars or houses that are too big for them.ö
He adds, "If some crazy rich person wants to buy that, I donÆt care and, by and large, the CSM doesnÆt care, and that money helps go to develop Eve.ö
Obviously neglecting the fact that CCP is developing two other games with EVE Online as its only significant source of revenue.

Hellooo! Anybody home? The sooner CCP gets those other games out the door and making money, the better. Then they'll have more income to reinvest in all their products. Think, McFly! Think! -- Eventus stultorum magister. |

Please quote from me, in the eula, where it states, that CCP will only spend the money they make from eve on eve?
Also why would any video game developer do something as stupid as forever only producing one video game?! Are you mad! What do you think would happen to CCP if they only built onto eve? They would eventually die. As you have undoubtedly heard by now. "EVE is dieing!" In reality its doing great for its age. But come on, think for a moment. You sure as hell don't put all your money into a single stock after 8 years of investing in a market.

I misinterpreted you than... Ugh I have been reading to many forum posts. Though in my defense it is hard to determine what point you are trying to get across. And going by the pessimistic tone general discussion has taken. I guess that clouded my comprehension. Good day.

If they are not stupidly overpowered - who cares? The major problem will not be ships that cost $10k, but stuff that costs $50-200 that can be bought in large enough quantities to make an impact on general gameplay. 5 Scorps that costs each as a small car will not have any influence and will never (or hardly) be seen on the battlefield.

That ships may receive custom paint jobs paid in Aurum is known, but I cannot understand how people could still be dumb enough to believe that this would have a significant impact on the market.

"Humans spend their time on stupid forum posts all the time, whereas they would have a better use for it : getting a life or playing video games or both.
But no, they prefer to waste their time on posting stuff in forums that nobody cares.
Thus it's not surprising that they waste their money too. Because humans are mostly stupid"

10,0000Ç = 333 plex = 12 billion isk
given that it is a ship and thus destructible and that by their own rules (vanity only) they can not give it any advantages over the regular variation I see no problems with that - there's probably hundreds of people who would shelf that out just to fly a fancier looking version of a ship in an alliance tournament.

My comment was perfectly on topic. $10,000 Scorpions will help CCP develop the game in the long run. Thus they should be added to the game. -- Eventus stultorum magister. |

Negative, 10,000$ scorpions will earn ccp money. What they do with that is up to them. I'm thinking escorts and a bathtub full of prosecco myself..

shouldnt you all be more concerned with the fact the people you voted for to be your voice dont care if ccp ruins the player-run economy with vanity ships? not to mention if you all think eve is going down the ****ter shouldnt you be enjoying it while its still the game you like instead of spending countless hours whining on the forums about it? because if you believe theyre going to start selling ships you should also accept theres precisely **** you can do about it

If you think companies are not going to use income for other projects, then you are fooling yourself. I got no real problem if CCP wants to use their golden goose to help fund side projects as long as they do not totally neglect EVE. And in a way they have negelcted a lot of issues in EVE, and thats one problem.
The main annoyance is that they no longer consider our subscriptions good enough, they try to make more money form their golden goose, so they are squeezing more eggs out of it. Sure, its "only vanity", but it is still content locked behind a new paywall wether you like it or not. And I for one find the pricing insulting when comapred to isk prices for ship etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a customer I am 100% ok with CCP dying when EVE dies - don't know why I should pretend otherwise.
There is some natural overlap between my goals and those of CCP but of course I don't share all of CCP's goals and it is simply not rational for me to start out by making their goals my own.
I want them to sell me the very best MMO experience possible for ~15Ç/month. They want to satisfy their investors and build a business that will employ and feed their grandchildren. I don't care about investors or grandchildren. They are no charity, I am no charity.
edit: and I am convinced that EVE itself will not survive the next ten years so any long-term planning beyond that only diverts resources from the product I want to buy.

Edited by: Shadowsword on 12/07/2011 08:46:57 It's an open secret that Dust will eventually be part of the Eve client, whatever CCP might say for now to avoid anything that might hamper the PS3 sales.
So, while I'll agree that the last expansions have been poor in content, in particular where ships and skills are concerned, saying that we won't get anything of the money we gave to CCP is nonsense.
Besides, the next expansion should see some real content coming (I expect between eight and sixteen new ships), so I'm satisfied for now.
Originally by: Beelzebubz shouldnt you all be more concerned with the fact the people you voted for to be your voice dont care if ccp ruins the player-run economy with vanity ships?
Valid concern, but already solved. CCP agreed that vanity ships would still require normal ships on top of AUR, the only thing being added is the skin. So no issue with the IG economy. ------------------------------------------

CCP, I'd like to finance my new Scorpion with you.
*sarcasm*
Ten thousand dollars? Who the hell is their market share? Anyone who doesn't have a full-blown country club in their backyard wouldn't even consider this purchase. This isn't a microtransaction, it's a MEGAtransaction. As one person already pointed out, that's an internet spaceship that costs as much as a CAR!
On the plus side, kudos to the ganker that takes out a ten-thousand dollar Scorpion. Surefire way to train Epeen V, not to mention that the wreck will probably contain solid gold carebear tears.

10k EUR = approx. 14k USD = approx. 400 GTC = 800 PLEX = approx. 288 bil ISK. You were only off by more than one order of magnitude there

10k EUR would be insanely difficult to stomach. 288 bil ISK on the other hand is borderline worthless in RL terms (unless you want to risk it with RMT, but that's another story), and quite a few people ingame could afford that if they felt like it. _
