Hello CCP.
One of the best things about Eve is that you must make choices, sometimes painful ones. Where skills are concerned, this translate into choices in what you want your character to be good at, and what you will not be able to do. For exemple, you can become a god of R&D and production in 6 months if you choose to, but then you won't use those months to train for supercarriers.
Only, after the first few years, this isn't true anymore. I have 75M SP, and I already have to throw my SP in things I don't really plan to ever use. Because I maxed the fields I had an interest in. Some players out there have 140M SP or more, and it must be far worse for them.
There is a need for more skills, like Advanced Motion Prediction or Advanced controlled bursts. I want to be able to invest 50M SP in a single ship and the modules to go with it if I so choose.
So I suggest either more skills, or upping the max level of skills to 7. ------------------------------------------

I don't have as much sp as you do, and i have a long way to go to reach that point. But i totally agree with your point. Leveling out the skill level at lets say 7 would be nice. Supose that training it would take a considerable amount of time. L6 30 days and L7 60 days.

I don't see this happening, but it would be nice if they implemented a new ship or two, or a class of ship like they have each year, and with those ships, maybe a few new skills to train up, that say... take another 1-2 months for each class.
I guess the Noctis counts from recent history, but... it was not nearly enough.
WTB
- Combat version of Orca for Empire space, i.e. sub capital with no jump drive, but ship bay, and combat drones, maybe even fighters. - Redo Field Command Ships to be PvP based, i.e. true T2 BCs, call them Heavy Assault Battlecruisers or HABs. - Capital killers, or as suggested in other threads, Heavy Assault Bombers, (Cloaky BCs that use heavy ordinance that is most effective against capital ships). - Wormhole skiffs, ships with minimum mass but high utility for wormhole surfing. The freebie ship with sails was just a tease.

Edited by: Onkadis on 06/07/2011 14:37:12 The more I think about some of the stupidest game design decisions made in by CCP in the ongoing development of the game game, the more I come to the conclusion that they were somewhat motivated by this idea of expanding skills and giving older characters things to train. Exhibit A: Titans.
Maybe it's time to consider the idea that there just may be a practical level cap in Eve. There is in every other MMO. I'm at 63 on my main. I've had a character with 85 mil (and still had plenty of stuff left to train - so I kinda don't understand what you're on about really).
Even so, 75 million SP? That's, what, 4 or 5 years of training? Maybe 4 or 5 years worth of skilling content is o-k.
Maybe not. But I think we've seen enough core things break in this game for the need to add alpha dog content that we might want to see posts demanding more skills to train to include some real, practical suggestions of areas of the game you'd want to see added and developed to Eve that won't screw up core areas or make other "professions" redundant.

It's not really how it "could" work ù it's how it does work.
Total SP to reach a level = 2^(2.5 + [level - 1]) + Rank + 250.
A rank 1 skill would require a total of 1,448,154 SP for lvl VI (up 1,192,154 from lvl V); 8,192,000 for lvl VII (another 6,743,846 SP on top of lvl VI). A rank 5 would obviously require 5+ as much, so that lvl VII would require a total of 40,960,000 SP.

You can buy SP at a maximum rate of 0.5 euros for 64,800 SP / day... You don't earn SP, you buy them, directly from CCP. It's only a small technical point I agree, but it's quite an important one that is Eve's best kept secret.

You buy time. You are then given the option to use that time earning SP. I mean I got the basics covered 100% everything else is just felxibility. Ever considered crosstraining btw?

Actually that would be pretty cool... If you don't have something special you want to train, you just leave to train some loong skill that would give you some advantage in the future... And lv6 should only be added, not more. But not all skills imho (drones for example, or any spaceship command skills also imho... and few skills like that)...
But for example if you could train engineering to lv6... you would train 18 days, but you would never again had to use powergrid implant, nice tradeoff i think. -------------------------------------------------

No, I never once said I was going to quit. Oops Tippia wrong again.
If I do nothing but give CCP money, I will die in a pool of my own excrement sat at my desk wondering why people are telling me to stop buy GTCs and go home. The number of SP's CCP will give me is the same number on the accounts I have signed up, that won't change, because I am doing nothing but giving CCP money, not signing accounts, not eating or washing, just giving CCP money.

No. If you still have not grasped the difference between buying something and earning something you are not going to drag me into your world. I simply do not have the power over vocabulary to explain it to you. I can only suggest visiting a library.

I am afraid you are dead wrong, you do not "buy" sp from ccp. You "buy" game time. The ability to gain SP is a part of game time. Its like saying people buying a car are buying the act of being driven.
Tippias point which you are choosing to misunderstandis that if you simply paid for an account and didn't set any skills training you would not gain any sp.

I have no idea who that is you think I am aping, or what their standard line is, nor where I aped it. Nor do I even care as it happens, you are not just wrong, but Tippia Wrong yet again. I just need you to introduce some bizarre concept into this to justify to yourself how right you are though.
No, I didn't agree I am not buying SP, did you read the right post?
And if I know perfectly well yada what what, the answer is not "None" at all. If I sign up those accounts for all those GTC's I would have bought, CCP would be selling me SP on each of those accounts. Unless of course you are maintaining the illogical, insane and therefore irrelevant postulation that people sign up accounts to not gain any sp. (Pro tip to look more silly, tell me how you have accounts where you deliberately gain no sp)
What is stalking if no reading is involved? Excellent, more Tippia nonsense coming up soon. Be Tippia-Wrong on this one too, insert absolutely Mad-As-A-Bucket-Of-Frogs insane justification about how you know what I do and don't read, or something. Your fanboiz are in thread too, they've got your back brother, and if that don't work, there's always CCP Navigator to rely on. He sure won't be banning you simply for using insanity as an argument for being right, but he will ban me for making you get more and more insane. They will probably call it trolling, and trolling is wrong. Being innapropriately egotistical still isn't against forum rules.

You pay for access to an online entertainment product. Whatever lies therein is part and parcel of said payment, but you neither paid for the experiences nor buy them, hence the "Online experiences may vary" clause.
The logic is really simple here, you pay for a product, anything you do with that product, is YOUR choice. You already paid for anything and everything you could possibly do with it, but whether you do ANY of those things, is up to YOU.
I can buy a fancy leather recliner for a small fortune from a furniture store, but only a mental patient would suggest that I have bought all the future rest and relaxation I get out of that chair as well. Maybe I bought the chair to have wild sex with my partner on, or to simply add to the decor of my room and never actually sit in it. These are my choices though, aren't they?

I tought about that, and decided it wasn't really an issue. When a new player look at a veteran's 30, 40, 50M SP, he compare that numeric value to his own and what he did with it. That's obviously going to look impressive with the benefit a few SP did to his gameplay with skills to level 2-4. But it's the number himself that will do that effect, not knowing that, for exemple, the veteran has a 30% targeting range.
Originally by: Izziee HATE this idea, it basically favours alts, stick an alt on a long skill while doing whatever on main. I like having just one account and in my own opinion it's just a simple pay to win thing which all of you have been so dead against.
That would be no different from what we have right now. I have 2 accounts, one for combat and 0.0 life, one for industry and empire isk-grinding, and 5-6 R&D agents on all 6 chars to get some passive income. You could say I already pay more to get an advantage, like half of Eve's player base. Adding skills would do nothing. ------------------------------------------
