As we can see by the financial reports, CCP need a certain amount of capital and one of the ways of raising money is to sell stock.
Would you consider investing in Eve (with CCP?)
Would CCP consider privately selling stock? (if that can be done)
Don't know how viable this idea is, but I enjoy being part of the solution rather than a contributor to the problem ...

If they ditch emo online I'd be pretty interested to invest in developing the EVE - Dust link. Depends a bit on the quality of Dust as stand-alone game and the planning of EVE. If they move past vanity items for semi-MT I dont really want to be associated.
I can afford a reallife monocle, that makes me a potential investor.

No.
As much as the "allure" of owning a chunk of CCP would appeal to me, I'd have to own most of it before I felt the investment was worth it.
Besides, eventually, I'd only end up selling my shares to SONY anyway.

Well,
Having just read some reports onthe CCP finances, I would be very loathed to invest in CCP, if it was Eve Online itself, sure, it makes profit as per 2010 Finacial reports, but it seems CCP has put most of there money sunk into Dust 514 and World of Darkness.
I dont think I am alone in thinking that Dust 514 as a concept is pretty nice idea, but I think its already competing in a huge market. Its a FPS first and foremost, its only going to be on Play Station 3, the background for Dust 514 is computer orientated EVE Online. I dont see Console Market players really be to interested in reading up on 7 Years off EVE Online. Its a dead duck. But it looks like CCP have invested so much Money, time and Effort its too late to turn back.
As for World of Darkness, tbh its a vamp game and I have a feeling that will probably do well if they can release it soonish, the market for that stuff at present is full on. Just look at the TV schedules.
Interesting times ahead.

Edited by: Kinuko on 28/06/2011 12:39:00 Edited by: Kinuko on 28/06/2011 12:36:30 It is very hard to invest in CCP right now;
Dust: Failure written all over it, if it sells more than 100k copies I'll be very very surprised
WoD: So much time in production yet it seems like they didn't even get engine right. Let's assume some form of miracle happens and they release WoD in 2013, how many computers will be able to run it as current carbon engine requires crazy amounts of processing for 1 char and 1 closet rendering.
MT: I don't buy this bull**** about MTs being the future, I have never used MTs and I know I won't because they cheapen the quality of the game and assume players are idiots. Introducing MTs into a P2P game screams our game is low quality.
Practically if they can solve the engine problems (seems very hard) WoD might get around 400k subsribers at best which will be profitable. Funny thing is they even got their WoD audiance wrong, WoD players are quite mature tabletop FRP fans yet they are aiming for twilight generation to buy the game and use MT to dress up their emo dolls, so much fail LOL. Chances are they won't even surpass the quality of VTM:Bloodlines.

If I had sufficient capital I might consider it. But alas I do not.
However looking at the employee reviews at other sites I'd probably want some major corporate restructuring before investing major cash.

In general? Yes. Currently? No.
CCP has only one valuable asset in their financial report, their code. But code is only worth what someone is paying for it, so in reality they have only one other "asset": The trust of their players. And that is what they decided to burn.
- a full public japanese-style exposing apology by Hilmar during the CSM meeting (via live stream) with an non-BS explanation which mistakes they had done (to make sure they understand). - a better plan how to develop and publish Dust, how not to drop WoD completely and still invest more ressources into polishing EVE.
and we can talk business.

See, the question was investing in Eve, and as some of you have pointed out, it would be CCP with Dust, WoD et al. To some extent I wish they had done an "Easy" and spun off the companies into self- sufficient startups and I suppose they do to now.

CCP need to work on their internal structuring. Before I'd even consider investing I'd like to see them clearly define a working corporate hierarchical structure and communications.
I suspect the atmosphere in the office is very blasT and belligerent in It's current relaxed party theme.
If they want some good ole British Army discipline I'd be more than happy to don my old combat gear and run them through some team building exercises. Hell even my kids are on parade every morning before school
But no, in It's current state I wouldn't consider it.

no i wouldnt invest in a business with poor management.
just increase the sub by Ç5 a month and allow us to train all our toons simulateously on that account in return ccp.
ye get more money.... we get usable toons quicker but at no advantage on others cos everyone would get the same ability.

In EVE itself, yes. CCP as a whole, no, unless I can use ISK to do that, which I doubt they are going to develop :)

I general, yes, i would like to invest into CCP. EVE Online is a brilliant game, and i don't have problems with WoD. But the reason i would do it for is to make sure that EVE is not forgotten, it has a really great potential.

I am not convinced they are in dire striaghts. A bit of a pickle, sure... I would probably buy into it if they floated (they will not).
Having a product that earns 5mil profit a year should be able to get them a nice bit of investment tbh, 11mil in nov, and another 10mil in march doesnt seem to be a stretch at all to me.
Of course....RBS-L shares, and 2 year Greece Bond both seem like good investments to me ;P ----------- Never Forget the joy of finding a main to link to a scammer alt. N-y-p-h-u-r ! ! |
