What do you hope to accomplish doing this? You're still playing their game. Want to protest? Quit. Quit now, don't look back. Reconsider when you get an apology e-mail, maybe.
This. While I find a lot of the ideas floating around to be insane speculation, I will say that if you want real attention don't shoot monuments at trade hub, but instead take a weekend off. Let the user numbers drop in a big way. You will be much more likely to be taken seriously if you show you don't NEED Eve than if you just throw a tantrum.

Edited by: thinduke on 25/06/2011 11:20:19 Dear CCP
IÆve been playing this great game for four years. I have encouraged other to play. I have been considering creating a new account as I need another Char to help with direction my main is heading (I have two accounts currently).
I will not open that account now. I will not resub my current accounts if you continue on the current path you are on.
I wonder how many others like me you will lose. Guys who love the game, who have encouraged other to play, guys who have done your marketing for you. Your short term views will destroy the greatest game online and turn it into a farce. With the exception of the character bazaar and recruitment I never post on the forums. Just imagine how many there are like me who never post who are thinking the same? I know people in my alliance are thinking along the same lines. Other friends are thinking along the same lines. What you see here is just a small percentage of those who are angry with you at the moment.
In my business if you want to survive and grow you listen to your customer base that has gotten you this far. It would seem CCP you have failed to do this. You want to use us as your cash cow? I am afraid at the moment you are leaving the gate open and that cow may well move on, I personally would not invest in a company with that attitude. The most successful and innovative companies in the world grew from listening to their customers, not from taking them for granted and being dishonest with them.
CCP its time you listened to yours.

Hey, thought... why isn't Zulu's devblog in the newsroll on the front page?
I know not all of them get there, but this was a rather anticipated blog.

Do you see the bit where CCP says one thing to the players (Vanity MT only, WE PROMISE!) and another thing completely internally (selling faction standing, selling ships, selling ammo, selling more than 50 fitting slots)?
Do you understand how we might be a teensy bit angry about that? About being treated like imbeciles, children who'll lap up any shiny as long as it's presented properly and introduced slowly enough?
And most importantly: Do you understand how, on a basic level, this destroys the promise of EVE Online?
i couldn't say it in a better way. I totaly agree with him.

Personally, CCP has given a big middle finger to the 'wants and needs' of the player base, and decided to cash in EVE as a project, kill it and move on. Dust looks promising from their angle, and a lot of PS3 users are attracted by that offer. Essentially, they are killing off EVE, so that they don't have that many players, and not that much stuff to do for it, so they can focus on other projects.
Realistically speaking, they screwed up - if they have the intent of keeping EVE alive - and if they do actually care, they'd take some of the suggestions that players are offering. EVE is a proper game, and takes skill to play. I hope it stays that way - because that is what I enjoy.
I don't want to be going back to WoW anytime soon. Seriously.

Another to the list...
Only four years here, but MT for ships etc smashes the game. If I wanted play like that, I would have been feeding the farmers a long time ago.
Total crap! Make a commitment to your customers CCP, or lose it. Most of us would respect that, even if a little embarrasing.
We are addicts to your game by choice - don't try to pimp us too!

So far, the ISK price of PLEX has gone down, which to me speaks volumes. It's too short-term to be conclusive, but still.
They were still paid with real money, because someone had to introduce that PLEX into the economy in the first place.
I am well aware of the PLEX-US$ link, thank you. The relevant question is whether these monocles resulted/will result in additional revenue for CCP. I have twelve PLEX on my accounts, bought and paid for. I could use them to buy three monocles, and the CCP monocle count will go up by three. But unless I buy more PLEX with $, or someone else buys more PLEX with $ and sells it to me for ISK, these three monocles will not have resulted in additional revenue. Right now there are a lot of people with PLEX to burn, and it is not at all certain that this PLEX pool will grow, or even replenished.

So, what happens right now? They broke down the parley, so do we actually torch down their company building?
I mean, we "promised" not to during negotiations, which clearly broke off.

You would think after 257 pages, two leaked documents, one poor CCP Pann getting lynched and an insulting wall of drivel from Zulu, CCP would actually man up and tell us what the hell is going on.
I know their investors give them money to fund their projects, but if EVE players leave in their droves they are screwed, and lets face it, the subscriber numbers aren't exactly sky rocketing are they? Nor will they if this debacle continues for much longer, they are already something of a joke to the largest of the gaming magazines and online communities, the very people whom they rely upon for their awards and publicity.
Hilmar, come down out of your office and talk to us, get Reynir on here like you guys used to. Stop hiding behind policy, insulting blogs and other members of staff and be the men you once were. This is no knee-jerk reaction fellas, this is a seriously angry bunch of investors and you owe us everything, not least of which are decent answers to our questions.

Take CQ away. Please. I can't right click on my ship. I can't make quick changes. I can't get my CPU load under 70%. I can't get over how terrible, cartoony, and un-threatening the turrets have become. I can't believe your trying to introduce 'vanity' items. Take it all away. Please. This has been my one and only favorite game to play for the last 3 years. If this continues, my subscription will most definitely be cancelled.
CCP has made a mistake. Don't try and talk yourself out of it, don't try to 'increase performance', don't try to patch it 15 times. Save yourself before you lose everything that made EVE great.

Edited by: Marcus Vorenius on 25/06/2011 11:31:44 what it all boils down to for me is ethics. CCP Zulu, CCP Penn (excused) and others tells us that they are ready to answer questions. CEO's internal memo shows that it's just BS. They tell us it's vanity items only, but at the same time they are preparing to implement full-blown P2W (e.g. nerfing ship fittings).

Pricing structure
People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them? For some you will look like the sad culmination of vainness while others will admire you and think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread. Whichever it is, it is clear that by wearing clothes you are expressing yourself and that the price is one of the many dimensions that clothes possess to do that in addition to style and fit. You don't need to buy expensive clothes. In fact you don't need to buy any clothes. Whatever you choose to do reflects what you are and what you want others to think you are.

I would like to say...CCP look at the spaceships we fly in game, do you think a fancy monacle amounts to the same value as a fully fitted carrier or more? maybe you should also sell carriers for 100000 dollar as a 'micro transaction'?
Is it really necessary to make me less competitive in game only because i get paid 1600 euro a month rather then twice or triple that? I think micro means small which in my opinion would be in a 3 - 10 dollar range. 70 bucks for a vanity item is by no means small.

Just in case anyone had any trouble finding it. The answer to the big yellow question is in there. Read it in its entirety, please. Whether or not this dooms EVE, I do know that so long as the upper level management (I'm looking at you, Hilmar) remains on the payroll, CCP will not be getting another dime from me.

right now, the only thing that seems broken to me is that when you do not load station environment, and double-click in a station, it doesn't open your active ship's cargo any more.
It's really irritating, adding a lot of clicks per hour when I'm running missions and such. Please fix that. :(

but yes, yes it did. read ALL the history, all the posts proclaiming no MT.
everything changed. our perception of the company we thought we dealt with changed. that alone is more than enough. and it is also our right to change game provider, as many now will do.
think of it like this: if i thought for one second my bank, insurance company or employer viewed me as a cash cow, i would change them too - and these are real life decisions. changing a game is not that hard by comparison. now i know thats what i am to those organisations, but if i complain they listen. if i ask them to, they act like they care, if i use them, they provide a return for me. as soon as i feel i do not get the care, attention or return for which i am invested - i leave and move on.
yes, i am a consumer. but yes i have a voice and it SHALL be heard and will NOT be ignored.
being viewed as such - and then having the perspective documented at the level it has been, well that is the icing on the cake.
i have a freedom, a freedom to share my experiences with others, throguh any medium. i will certainly share this one very loudly wherever i can.
in any business the following is true: it is cheaper to keep customers than it is to acquire new ones. couple the cost of new customer acquisition with the bad publicity that this episode will, absolutely, create across all media types (i will make my voice heard as i have an investment to protect or at very least an investment to 'discuss' both an investment of my time and my money) and i certainly do not beleive the future is bright here- and not just for eve.
but alas i am one person (i hear so many people tell me), my unsubs dont amount to a hill of beans. probably neither will my repeated reporting of the situation to media outlets. but, when one voice becomes just 500 or maybe a thousand, then ccp feel it, press ears start to pick up and momentum grows.
who knows, perhaps this has been carefully orchestrated. ccp's activity could possibly be a valid exit strategy too - anyone who has studied business would recognse it as a possibility.

How, exactly would MT for ships be different - apart from CCP being the beneficiary?
