Is there a plan in place or changes being reviewed to prevent mitigate such attacks in future?
Also, why can we not change our account payment details (Credit cards) until 30 days game time remains, that is ludicrious.
How about not storing it at all (or opt in) and let us enter it when we want to add more game time, therefore mitigating breach risk even more.

seeing the last 2 have little to do with the downtime.. i'll stick to the first.
if you build a system that can withstand N, you only need to bring N+1 to take it down.. the only way to securely mitigate any chance of it happening again is by making sure N is larger than what a potential threat can send.. at which point you're safe until another threat that builds a system that can send N+1 ...
judging by what the rest of the internet felt from the attack, CCP's N factor is a leap higher than what I would have thought it'd be
The account payment details issues is very much to do with security also, not being able to even update it to newly issued cards due to expirey dates, until 30 days or less game time is ludicious. I don't see a need to actually store the CC details at all really but sure, keep dancing around the bush on the issue by ignoring it.

Your data was not compromised and we are back in action.
How can CCP be sure? Their logs always show nothing.

Well the US has already said that it might get the Military involved as it considers lulzsec hacks to US sites to be terrorists attacks and such a threat to Nation Security
Yeah that's why the US has not siezed lulsecurity.com and Twitter still hasn't locked Lulsec's twitter publicity feed.
Wonder why? Perhaps they are letting it happen so the hacker group support base turns against them, namely gamers and geeks.
Psyops? Stinks like it more and more.
Call the Lul request phone number, and you will probably find it is either Israelie or American accents/dialects.

Notice I said "memories".
Old news, database breached and modified.
Nothing to worry about.
2011, just a little DDOS. Nothing to worry about... just the fact that DDOSs are used to cover breaches often.
Lulsec never leave empty handed, you should talk to Epic, they lost their password and email database, discovered after their site was DDOS'd on June 14th 2011, wait, that was the same day Lulsec DDOS'd CCP too.
See the pattern of using DDOS's to cover breaches. See the history profile of lulsec, breach->steal data->DDOS

I second this. Sucks to have been unable to access Eve or the forums all day, but well worth the wait knowing that CCP was taking extreme precaution with our universe and our personal information. Kudos!

[tinfoil]I suspect 'these people' are in fact not the 'these people' that most people think they are!
in a given situation ask "who benefits from this?"
to give an example, a person or entity looking to generate popular support for a more draconian policing and regulation of the internet would be well placed as a result of all these attacks.
not to mention using that example that a regulated internet is a taxed internet.
It is also an internet where social networking cannot have an impact on a countries current laws for example concerning superinjunctions. [/tinfoil]

who? those who hacked or those who use outdated protection. don't be so quick to blame hackers, they do a very important job when it comes to networks. if we ever get to the stage where computers and information is safe, that will be because of the hackers.
its very clear the last few weeks, alot of sys admins and company really don't give a rats bum to our information. using outdated software, not being bothered to patch KNOWN exploits, i could go on about this subject.
The only downside to what is going on, is big company are now in bed with governments trying to make the internet into a fish pond. and sadly support is now growing, these groups are dead on right, it is a war.
and why do people call them hackers, a hacker is someone who hacks into software, a cracker is someone who cracks into networks.
last few years tho people don't refer to crackers and use hackers for everything :S
Well thank **** for NATO-Lulzsec. releasing my credit card info from Sony. I feel safer already... No need to call the bank, no need to check statements, no need to change passwords..
Warm and cozey. Thanks NATO-Luzsec!

i'd blame sony, for using outdated security patches which they knew about. and i'd blame sony for not encrypting all user information, i'd blame sony for poor customer care. sony was hit hard for a whole different reason though and was also thought to be multi groups.
And I blame Nato-Lulzsec for exploiting that and putting customers at risk. They did no favours.
I don't care why they did it, fact is, they did it, and a lot of innocent people suffered from it. Their target was Sony, the people that paid, was the customers.
Anon didn't actually hack Sony, others did. Anon is political, and goes after political targets. Not consumers.

Actually, hackers ARE the forefront of computer security technology.
Every single advancement in computer security has been driven by hackers. This is something you always have to be on top of, otherwise... well, you get a situation like what happened here... or worse. Look how things went for Sony for instance.
You can nay-say it all you want, but that's not going to change the truth of the statement.
Good, let's put your bank account into the foreground of security technology.
Nay-say that.

Is CCP working with the ISPs flooding the servers, and Twitter / Lulz domain hosters to get them taken down?
What is CCP doing? Can somebody update us?

Yeah, they won't ever put somethiong fake on it to get somebody else bracing for war, then they hit somebody not suspecting it.
There is a reason they don't hit steam.
They probably cannot take down steam, too many servers spread all over and they have their own games on it .
