Just wondering....
Would i be right in assuming that eventaully everyone will be in titans and super caps as they continue to get more and more sp.
Their value will just decrease untill killing a titan is no different to killing a BS (Obviously this isnt true but you get the point)

Actually its Supercarriers that will replace the BS.

Will people please stop referring to "titans and supercaps" when they actually mean "titans and supercarriers"? They're both "supercaps", and "supercap" is not short for "supercarrier". Thank you.

It won't be an even transition. Powers that hold substantial space have the resources and ability to protect CSAA's and thus are building supers as fast as they can. If you aren't in a null-sec block buying and flying a super is asking for it to get hot-dropped and killed.
So in the end it will encourage null-sec power to be held in fewer hands and they'll be ever harder to challenge.

To fix this issue I'm officially offering 25 isk and a Quafe drink for every super capital ship destroy. I'll add in a prostitute and some antibiotics for anyone that self destructs their super capital to help the cause.

Based on everything I've seen in 7 years, everyone will be in Supercaps. Then they will nerf them in to the ground. |

Yea, they are the new battleship.
Nothing in eve has really changed because of that, except now the new battleship is a sluggish piece of crap that requires alts to move around.

Not quite. Because supers are the de facto only viable combat ship in escalating fights, and because their mineral requirements are massive, there is a strong evolutionary pressure to procure alternative methods of mineral acquisition by automation. The drone region alliances showed everyone how to do it. Other follow suit in order to compete.

Don't worry, a sizable nerf is incoming to supercap pilots
Either you a) get out of the capital and dock b) don't enjoy any new content for the next few years ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Can anyone estimate how many supercarriers there are in circulation right now? A few thousand maybe? And how many active subscriptions are there? Over 300k, right? Replacing battleships? Ridiculous. -- Eventus stultorum magister. |

last I read in the economic report was that there are now 1300ish supercarriers ingame. But not nearly as much are active since well once you finally fly it and you can use it like once every 2 months you get kinda bored with the game. So most of them are inactive unfortunately.
Funny fact. There's less jumpfreighters than supercarriers.

This
Supercaps will never replace battleships (altho regular caps might) for the sole reason they're highly expensive and many pvp'ers live on a ship to ship basis where they can't afford to make such huge investments.

So if we believe all the recent posts:
In null-sec we'll have everyone flying supercaps.
Low-sec, well nobody lives there anyway, it's just the 'no-mans land' you travel through between hi-sec and null-sec.
Hi-sec is full of L4 missions runners, miners, station-rooted traders and scammers.
And that is EVE.

The majority of the subscriptions who both you mention live in highsec. In order to become an applicable stat in regards to people owning capitals, first they have to be a person.

I read that part of the report too, and I think you may have got the monthly and quarterly totals mixed up. Here's the relevant quote from Q3 2010:
Quote:
Supercarriers have continued to see rapid growth since balancing changes during the first quarter, with a further 386 being flown this quarter compared to last.
So for Q2 2010, that suggests a figure of about 130 per month.
Also, in a table from the same section of the QEN, it can be seen that 7 of the top 10 classes of ships by quarterly growth in popularity were either capital ships or freighters. So it might take a while for most people to get there, but more and more players are heading towards endgame content. --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

tbh I think eve is too boring to support the reality of "everyone" flying/owning supercaps.
The reality of the game is that it has a high percentage turnover of players : people who maybe stay a year at the most, get bored and leave.
These folk rarely if ever will have supercaps and they consistently make up a large percentage of players.
The rest, well yeah they probably will have the resources to own a supercap at some stage, but plenty avoid it because that effectively locks a character into the ship since it can't be mothballed like other ships.
I reckon the supercap population WILL plateau at some point but we're not near that point...yet.
