Ok, I am not interrested in participating, but I thought there would be cool gfx-effects. Corpmate told me, that I have to activate "post processing" in the options to see them. Allright...I set postprocessing to low and everything is green now. For the price of 80% performance. Without postprocessing I have about 100-120 fps @ 2900*1024 (fixed window)
With postprocessing the fps count goes under 20! :(
What can I do to have all the nice effects AND good performance.
System is AMD X2 550, 4GB RAM, nVidia 240GT on Windows7 32Bit.
I cannot believe that a simple shader effect (make everything 50%green overlay) eats up so much performance!

like stated, it because your GPU dosn't have the needed horsepower.
And which one would you recommend for my system? I do not think I have to buy the expensive top notch state of the art gfx-card for a directX9 game.
edit: its a 240GT not GTS (whatever the difference may be). Internet says it was a pretty good card in its days.

Something like this would be suitable then:

Ok, Thank You! I will look for this card (saw it on amazon for 160Ç).. Have to check if my PC has enough Powergrid :D. I am not sure if my pc has those 2 power connectors for that card.

Hi, sorry to bring this up again, but I just received that fanfest offer from evga.
So which one is the better
the GTX450 the GTX460 SE or the GTX550 Ti FPB
? I know that the specs are on the website, but I really do not understand them.

ok..so as far as I understand this GFLOBS/$ equation, the GTX460 (without SE) is the best card I can buy.
second best is the GTX460 with SE.
right?

See edit, comparing to other cards
Also, some people don't really care about performance/price ratio, and just want max performance.
The GTX460 SE is the absolute WORST buy of them all IMO. I would say the 560 Ti is the best one you can buy if you care about either ratio or raw power, since it wins out in both... if you can afford it, at 245$. If you want cheapness with still-decent p/p ratio though, go with the 130$ 450 GTS.
You could go ATI, but since CCP goes so gaga about NVIDIA, one could expect much better support for it... so, your choice.
P.S. Assuming the listed prices are correct, no idea what the actual prices for the promotion are. Can you list ACTUAL prices you get through the promotion ? From what I understand, it doesn't apply to all shops, but just select EVGA shops, and I have absolutely no idea what shops those might be and how much they charge now (so I can calculate the discounted price).
Well, I pay in euros..and I will just order the 460 around easter. I thought the deal with evga would be cool - but they only offer the SE edition. The price does not really matter (within the budget - I know I can order a PC resembled by NASA for weather forecasts) all I want is to be on the safe side for that "investion"..I do not want to have to post about bad graphics performance in 2 month again and get told that my gfx card is crap like my 240 is (wich does fine in any other game I play).
