Edited by: Brolly on 01/07/2010 16:01:13 CCP questionnaire, instead of whining on the forums do something productive!
My main gripe was that there was no text box to really give more elaborate feedback. Maybe CCP should start a thread for suggestions and limitations they have, unless there is already one about and I haven't seen it.
Here's to hoping that those 2 minutes were well spent and some PI love is on it's way.

I'm rather irritated that there was no W-space option for "Where do you spend most of your time?" Of course I realize w-space is 0.0, but it is very different from "Null-sec." Enough so to warrant another option for the question. ____________________ Captain Muscles sez:

It doesn't ask for any personal info, not even a character name.

I think I agree with you, I sure didn't see a link to this anywhere that would get much attention.

Maybe because they don't want the entire forums to have an epic troll and say PI is utter pants

It's the implementation that's utter pants. PI itself is a pretty good idea, and works adequately, but my hate for the UI is near biblical... Eye bleed and RSI much? _

I just took the survey, but I think it is an awful survey.
The survey needed to be split into two parts: PI Setup and PI Maintenance. I like the building part of PI, I think the maintenance part of it is terrible.
There should be more fiddling with extractors and links and such to optimize your colony rather than once its setup, click 200 times.

I agree, it's a nice aspect to the game which I enjoy when not having to restart all my extractors.
An interesting point is, how much feedback was their from the testers in the eve community when it came to this. Did lack of feedback result in the issues of the current iteration, or did CCP not acknowledge these aspects as serious issues.

My interest in PI went as far as:
Me> Is PI any good? Corpmate> Do you like setting up and maintaining POS? Me> No Corpmate> Then you won't like PI

Don't let that deter you from PI. I don't much care for doing anything with POSs, but I like PI.
It could stand to be less of a click-fest for sure, but I enjoyed surveying and laying out my sites. ___________________________________

A little feed back on my account;
I like PI. Not that I use it though I've had a little dabble, but because it brings much needed traffic into lowsec. Its been fun chasing haulers at the planets and custom offices.

I filled in the little survey for you but was upset to find that under the "Main character occupation" question there was no "Dilettante" option.
Please fix this gross oversight. ______________________________________________

+1 to setup vs maintenance
I killed a lot of time choosing what to build, planning my network, finding hotspots and setting up junk just right so that I had a slick daily routine feeding a well oiled machine.
The daily routine part blows though.

I was missing: Do you want PI further developed? yes/don't care/no
I fear, if they get enough negative feedback, they'll just drop PI as a failed feature, not worth further resources. -------- All I want is a better mankind.

The problem with the surveys is we don't get feedback. Like the questions on Epic missions in older surveys. I wonder if that's as CCP didn't want to post something that showed the content was bad. ______ How to Passive Shield Tank T2

On the bright side, this time around they potentially have the ability to refund you the skills points you spent/wasted on PI.

Critical difference between POSes and PI:
- PI takes reasonable effort to set up, yet it entails terrible amounts of clicky-pain to maintain. - POSes take a lot of effort (and ISK investment) to set up but the maintenance requirements, assuming you have a JF for logistics (obviously), is manageable.
Reaction POSes also give you a lot better profits per hour of time invested to the maintenance. On the downside, POS operations require considerable upfront investment and, in theory, you have a lot of ISK on the line tied to the hardware and raw materials and someone deciding to blow up your POS can be a pain. Not that it happens too often. PI has almost no upfront investment.
Of course POS stuff has taken a blow with the NPC fuel prices spiking due to the amount of PI clicky-fest needed to manufacture them. On the upside, you can manufacture (some) of the POS fuels on-site if you can stomach PI...
I really don't know how PI could be fixable - either it is a massive click/timesink or it becomes a passive "stuff" generator that everyone does on every account until the profits disappear and it becomes completely pointless... It is just too simple. Even a trained monkey with few million ISK can set everything up, so the only way to limit it is to make it a click fest...

This survey is way too general to be of any use imho. There was absolutely no breakout of specific implementation areas to comment on.
I would have liked to answer specific questions about surveying, building, maintenance, extraction amounts and times, barrier to entry and how the market was handled.
I am one of those people who who think they did some things really well (scanning / building) and some things were a disaster (ratio of high/low/null sec extraction amounts & times / barrier to entry / market).
The only clicking part I hate is the resetting of extractors (easily fixed I should think) . Otherwise, the rest of the maintenance is just about right.
