hey guys,
I just rejoined and am getting that cannot connect to server message...odds are no internet connection..i've put in petitions but no answer..I'd just like to play...any help?

It's probably something to do with your computer tbh, I've been on and off eve all day and have not once had a problem, except once when my wireless thingymawhatsit had a seizure and I had to reboot it.

Finally some help...ok it is not recognizing the server...status of tranquility is unknown..and then i get this message Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
Thats what I get...I know it has to be something simple but I'm not the most tech saavy guy in the world...Please get me ingame..

same here, when running pingplotter to TQ, I see an impressive amount of error status messages at a few of points on the route, being the last two hops 195.219.67.246 and 87.237.36.26. TQ itself shows as unreachable.

Unfortunatly I solve my computer programs via pushing as many buttons as possible, idle threats and hammers. Try figuring out how to turn off your fire wall, if that doesn't fix it I dunno.

Google for "pingplotter", download & install. Give it the TQ ip (87.237.38.200) address, and watch it resolve. Somewhere along the line there's bound to be errors and it'll identify them. It conveniently also lets you log it over time, and export data as text or picture.

There's no "fixing it" on your or my end >.< Unless you have sole control over the interwebs OR you have a client side issue like firewall misconfiguration (which pingplotter will show quite clearly). But it does give CCP more insight into where there are issues, whether those are persistant, or otherwise.
My traceroute keeps breaking right at the last hop before TQ, network ops at CCP can check with network ops of that node, andsoforth.

how do i send them this...mine seems to break right at hop 10. how do i export it? sorry for sounding so stupid but I'm not used to all this stuff. I think its facinating how much you guys know.. I just want to play and basically you're telling me right now there really isn't any way I can correct?

Well, you sent and received the packets so unless those * * mean something I don't see a problem. A file may be corrupted, I assume you have tried uninstalling then reinstalling EVE? Also do you connect to the internet normally?
Another issue, if I was to guess, is you may be trying to use a proxy which may cause issues.

Redownload client re-install client
try again.

1) make sure that windows is not blocking access from exefile.exe 2) make sure windows is upto date with all updates 3) where in the world are you trying to connect from 4) make sure your firewall is not blocking tcp conenction for the quake port 5) update our petition with all the useful info you can 6) try This forumn -- | Capital |

Hello poenao, A few quick questions.
Your approximate location? Where are you in the world? Computer Specification? Internet Connection Type? (Is it shared or a school network?) Computer OS? Computer Security? Extra firewalls?
With a but of luck someone, including myself, could help you with your issue. Connection issue is usually due to port or packet blocking. In short, the internet said "No." and we need to make it say otherwise.
We'll get it sorted.. Unless you're not on a private network and then you're at the mercy of your administrators.

I am in NY I have a dell inspiron 530s i havea linksys router wrt5g that i run my ps3 an my xbox 360 thru
I'm on vista home OS shared connection I had norton as extra pc security but my nvidia card just burnt out and I got an ATI put in at best buy and now my Norton wont kick up at start. Also on the main dominion screen ifI try to look at patch notes I get a messsage in the box that says wrong url..

Its quite a hassle, but as a final resort you can try re-installing windows.. You'll lose everything on the PC if you dont have it saved somewhere else but it might just fix your problem..
Let it be done by somebody who knows what he's doing tho, if you do it wrong yourself (altough there isnt *that* much you can do wrong) you can mess up quite a bit and **** will hit the fan. ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

I did tek in an earlier post but hell I'll do it again.
Dell inpiron 530s Cable modem. linksys router wrt54g Windows Vista Home.
Ati Radeon Graphics card hd 4300/4500
No issues when connecting to the internet. Dominion screen will load up tranquiity server status unknown...if i try to hit patch news i get bad url message. Now I had norton internet security but when i got my new graphics card installed norton no longer pops up. I've tried to open it but get a minimal non functioning bar.. I'm beyond frustrated..I dont know how to check ports or open ports or what have you...thanks
To answer your question I'm not too literate with pc's I follow direction well but i'm not too literate.

You won't actually lose anything when you reinstall the client, other than your personal settings. All of your stuffs will still be there when (if) you do finally get back on.

After reading thru these replies, I came to 1 possible conclusion: he could be running 2 firewalls at the same time. You could try deleting norton all together. No need for that when microsoft provides a full security suite for free (google microsoft security essentials). Once norton is gone, temporarily disable your windows firewall and try again. I could be possible that one of the 2 firewalls is blocking the port needed to get on Eve.
A while back I had a nasty issue with Eve. I wasn't able to log on. Reinstalled client, then windows. Nothing worked. I replaced my router (same one you have). Fixed my problems altogether.
In your scenerio, it has to be your PC being the problem. If all other internet access works fine, then it has to be a setting within norton or windows firewall preventing access. When you first accessed EVE, windows will popup a warning box saying that Eve is trying to access the internet. If you hit no, then windwos will block internet access to eve.
Just some things to consider. Good luck!

I'm done.....3 days now...There is no reason this machine should have trouble. I specifically went out and bought a graphics card that could handle it. the back an forth emails take too long..my a i m is steelwheelmm if anyone can help me or walk me thru this PLEASE contact me..I'll stay up all night with someone willing to work with me..

still nada. Tomorrow I buy new router. If anyone can contact me via IM maybe someone can work it out with me. Kinda need the game right now as I'm going thru some really really rough things personally. The client itself getting those URL things when i click on patch news an stuff I just dont know what to make of it. I don't know how to interpret the ping plotter. I'll be up for a little bit longer tonight. I'm not going to forget all the people that offered up help. I know we'll get me in game soon enough. I been away from it a long time and i missed it. I got an apoc waitin for me which i'm sure is an outdated ass ship. After that i'm working my butt off for whomever is gonna hire me. I'm going to be in shipping. I get enough work I'll start a corp and hire a few pilots. If that gets big I'll hire a few more pilots to escort them. Hopefully pilots will like my little company. LOL since i haven't been ingame i been puttin stuff on paper. I know stupid..again ANY and ALL HELP is appreciated...steelwheelmm on A I M if someone has ideas...
