Edited by: CCP Vertex on 12/04/2010 14:36:35 I have been trying to look into this for a few days now and would appreciate detailed information from everyone that has reported the issue.
Bug reports are the order of the day, but I need specific information not just descriptions of what is happening. Please read the info in the following link to get an idea of the detail/info required: http://www.eve-bh.net/howtobr.php
Important info needed:
Your specific reproduction steps EVE minidumps from crashes dxdiag to show hardware/driver info logserver report to show any errors/exceptions that might be occuring
Once you have this information please file a report here: logserver report to show any errors/exceptions that might be occuring https://bugs.eveonline.com/login.asp?t=%2Fnewbugreport%2Easp%3F&rc=1
If you leave a comment in this thread when you have filed the report I will know when to look for it.

Can anyone who is reporting this issue also put into the bug report title "For CCP Vertex" so I can quickly see them when they come in.
Thanks

Ok I have noticed that a lot of people so far have been running on outdated drivers (not everything) but a few of you. Can everything please check your current driver version and do an update by getting the latest driver here: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk
Latest should be 197.41 and report back here if this helps with any of your issues. So far 2 people have reported that a driver update has fixed their problems.

Gkar: I am extremely interested in your issue as you appear to be having massive fps highs and lows, can you please run logserver for and check your performance to make sure the fps is still all over the place.
Also if you do crash can you please add /minidump into the end of your EVE shortcut in the target field, this will tell the client to create a minidump of the crash and logserver will tell you where it is located.

Originally by: Avoida Question to CCP Vertex:
Why, in the situation where the client black-screens and becomes unresponsive, does the server not realize this and force the character to emergency warp?
I'm running 3 clients and am in my own fleet and all 3 are in a fleet warp to a gate. One of the client suffers a lock up just upon grid load (screen goes black, I click on it and it goes solid white.) I can still issue fleet warp commands and that character responds as if the client is still active. Last night, for example, this happened an for an hour I was still able to fleet warp this character around the system even though the client had locked up.
Would not the server recognize that the client was unresponsive?
I'm not quite sure why that is happening to you (the black screen then white screen) but as for the server detecting an unresponsive client, that doesnÆt happen as the connection is still active. If you sit in space without clicking on any services i.e. wallet/corp etc would you want to be considered inactive and warped away?
The server only realises you are unresponsive when the connection between the client and the server has ended, what you are describing is a client lockup which doesnÆt mean the connection is at fault or should be terminated. If you havenÆt already I suggest filing a bug report with as much information as possible on your lockup issue.

I just wanted to reassure you all that I am still looking into this issue, I have a few crash dumps that myself and CCP Tenitigo are analysing. Keep the bug reports coming in with any crash dumps/exceptions in the logserver as they all help.

I have been a bit preoccupied with the expansion these last few weeks, however we have still been spending time on this issue. The information we have had so far isnÆt consistent with a different issue being the cause each time. Please make sure that your GPU drivers are up to date to rule that out as a cause.
We have had a few people who have had their problems resolved by a driver update, a few who say they had a faulty GPU and a replacement fixed it. We are still looking into this and the only way we are going to make reason ground is by people that are still affected speaking up and creating bug reports.
We specifically need crashdumps, you can enable this on your client by adding /minidump onto the end of your EVE shortcut in the target field, this will tell the client to create a minidump of the crash and logserver will tell you where it is located.
When you file a bug report we need specific information not just descriptions of what is happening. Please read the info in the following link to get an idea of the detail/info required: http://www.eve-bh.net/howtobr.php
Important info needed:
Your specific reproduction steps EVE minidumps from crashes dxdiag to show hardware/driver info logserver report to show any errors/exceptions that might be occurring
The title of the bug report should also contain "For CCP Vertexö, once you have submitted the bug report PLEASE reply to this thread with the bug report ID as I will be checking this thread a few times a week.

We have been looking at your crashdumps and see that you have xfire installed, can you tell me if the friends that crash at the same time as you also use xfire?
