As the pilot tasked to ECM (and subsequently became primaried, lost mah blackbird) the nightmare's logistic support, i can confirm there we're actually 3 basilisks assisting the nightmare. there we're also 2 extra recon ships and a navy megathron assisting Wildcat aswell.

Took ONLY 29-30 guys to take the Nightmare down. Now that's a good job i must say.
If this had been with 4 or 5 players instead, then i would probably take it for a good fight most likely.

For the people smacking about how many people it took...
With all the scouts, EWAR and RR support he generally brings with him, you'll need a sizable fleet to knock him out in 60 seconds. Take that Nightmare off the gate, without all its support... and you'll see it go down to a MUCH smaller force. Hell, your average Curse and a regular gank BS could take it out pretty easily. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

tbh your coming accross ignorant and bitter. i say this because "generaly" dhb wont have more than 2 people in gang, his mare and his falcon(which btw he is normaly reluctant to decloak unless his enemys have jams also). this seems to have been an extra-ordinary gang he was in. (hence the ignorant part) i can tell you are bitter because you claim to know a lot about him and post in the same colour which he typically does presumably to mock/annoy him?
if you would care to respond im sure i could tear down your next (and more than likely equaly bitter and ignorant) post. |

hmm the battle report I am looking at shows that they lost 2 ships , 1 of which was killed by an apparently unrelated crusader

so `several ships` realy means 1 blackbird ?
I also once did not bother scouting and I jumped into a bubbled gate with 87 campers. My rifter did not last long. Should I be, like lots people in this thread, jumping up and down squealing about an epic 87 v 1 fight ? |

yah because ice is well known as a great pvp entity with an imaculate kb and fierce tallons!
also as for jumping up and down, i think aside from the op and yourself, everyone else has more or less seen this for what it is, a gloat thread gone horribly wrong.

Ok that is a different look at the battle from the report that I posted.
Current replacement of that nighmare + fittings is about 4.2 bill, add in the sleipner etc and we have a value lost of approx 5 bill.
ships destroyed value is approx 450 mill ( loot dropped from the nightmare was 2 bill+ isk worth)
That means the `blob` caused a better then 10:1 ratio of isk destroyed ( without taking insurance into account )
Explain to me exactly how they failed , for a group that you seem to deride their pvp capabilities , they shore gave you a buttwhipping.

Warping in a crapload of ships on a smaller force, locking and pressing function keys is not a display of pvp prowess. No one is disputing the 'win' its simply not done in a tactically impressive way. |

Well, yeah - but that's not really the point is it? It's like, "if he was doing something other than what he did, and with other ships, we could have taken him down with less people". But he wasn't, so you didn't, instead he was hit by a 30+ blob, which of course took him down. Which is cool and all, but it doesn't seem like a great reason to make a thread gloating about it. |

Actually, if you run the numbers on his fitting, factoring in 2 supporting Basilisks, I'd say expecting someone to engage that with anything below 10 BSs worth of damage output would be silly.
Keep in mind people dont fight to "test a tank" or something, they have very specific goals in an engagement, my guess is the goal there was to ensure to take the nightmare down instead of seeing it deagress and jump the gate. |

This is how you can pick a blobber out of the crowd, their answer to everything is MOAR DPS.
God forbid you factor, oh I don't know, ewar into your calculations.
Good pvpers think in terms of "How do I beat what's in front of me." Bad pvpers go straight to "How much dps do I need to beat what's in front of me." Not necessarily saying that higher damage output isn't occasionally the answer, but it's rarely the best one.
(Horrible pvpers don't let actual pvp get in the way of their efting. No matter what.) |

my pleasure.
1) reapting something that is true doesnt make it less true. in fact the only reason i need to repeat it is because you are continuing your ignorant rants. 2) before the first nanopatch, i doubt anyone would have denied that they where overpowered, thus we had lots of "whine" threads. this did not stop any of the people "whining" about them (including myself) using them. if something is stupidly overpowered and you know it, and you tell people it needs to be ballanced (but its not going to) you would be ******ed not to use it yourself. 3) if you want to contest the way he is using that please provide related links of your vast experiance in fighting against dhb. (or for that matter anyone... 300 kills - 100 losses is at best someone who is on pvp training wheels.) |

And thats how you pick scrubs out of the crowd, whenever they lose a fight they got blobbed.
They never failed at scouting, they werent stupid enough to take a fight at bad odds, they just got blobbed, its the other guys fault for not playing honorable.
Furthermore, the blobbers always formed that gang just to beat them, under no circumstance that gang was roaming around and just happened to find something to kill.

You do realize these questions are interrelated quite often, right? Especially in the case of a supertanked faction BS in dock- / jumprange...

Edited by: Minigin on 19/03/2010 10:51:33 yeh guys... you people running around with the one or two accounts are stupid... you arnt good pvpers... the good pvpers are the guys who see those guys then go yell in alliance chat till another 40 guys in t1 fitted bcs join in, then all of a sudden become brave little boys and start engaging! THOSE are the good pvpers.
how you dont see this is beyond me.
realistically though, these morons are the ones who dont have overview set to show velocity/trasnvers velocity, who have wrecks and cargo containers still on overview, who have gang mates set to overview, who dont know how to set up proper broadcasts or to broadcast, who think a great fit is t1 rails on a brutix... or armor tanked vagabonds.
but! they are the good pvpers, because they clearly took into account the tank of the ship they where fighting. they dont always bring the same numbers because they suck so much that you can rambo their gangs in a myrmidon. |

The question still remains, why did he engage if he knew it was a loss? That's a smart PVPer, flying into a losing situation.
It looks like having your overview set up correctly didn't save you guys from a 5b loss. I don't condone epeen wagging on the forums, but when you cry because you lost and claim how bad pvpers ICE is... yet ya'll engaged them, it makes you look sad. |

i cant speek to how the engagment played out because i wasnt there. but knowing the nc and knowing that system, there are about a dozen different ways of disguising a blob like that. eg. jumpbridges, titan bridges whatever really tickles your fancy.
to sit here and say "clearly... engaging anyone who might have more people than you is silly..." is just an extention of "we are bad at this game... MOAR DPS"
another part of being a good pvper is taking your chances. otherwise your just another carebear temporarily involved in pvp. - pvpers create kills, they dont just take the ones on offer. but i mean really i dont see anyone who has had any respectable amount of real pvp posting to the contrary to what i have said in this thread. it seems more like a commentary on orwell writen by stalin.
and i dont expect them to stop because frankly they just dont know what they are talking about. they make wild assumptions based on their limited experiences. |

yes i respect dhb for pvp'in in the ships he does, the vid's he makes and his general attitude towards his eve life, but i duno... im kinda lost at same time. stats taken from failclinic:
ISK Lost 42,091,593,381 ISK Destroyed 51,033,537,929 Success Ratio 1:1 Average ISK/Kill 10,960,811
1 of his losses must = how many kills?, the more well known he gets, the more he gets hunted - thus more losses I felt sure the idea of pvp was to kill much more than you loose, more relaited to isk value than ship class (killing 10 frigs in a BS wouldn't = a BS loss)
i mean this to be a serious topic, not a flame DHB thing...as said, i highly respect DHB for what he does. plz feed me intel! |
