Originally by: TheGunslinger42 I remember having a good laugh at the boot.ini thing. My XP had managed to somehow lose it's boot.ini long before eve nuked it (and it told me so every time I started the computer - but it DID still boot normally, albeit with a quiet little grey message beforehand).
Summary: Delete/lose your boot.ini before EVE does and you'll be fine.
Better choice: move to an OS where boot.ini does not exist and where normal processes have no right to even touch the root directory. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

ROFL people tried to claim a licensed game would kill one with its own IP?
Well look at the bright side: at least the STO:ers aren't going through the whole tired "woe is me, this is CU/NGE all over again" rigmarole. They're leaning more towards "I wonder if we can beat Hellgate London for quickest death?", and that's always refreshing… ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Wrong threadnaught. That one you linked is just the after effect of locking the main 307 page black hole of doom.
It's actually the same thread – I just added the URL magic that gave it 40 post per page, rather than 10. Because there's no reason to have such short pages. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Originally by: Larg Kellein Didn't Auto Assault die even faster than Hellgate? God, that game sucked. Was given to me free, but I'd played the beta, so never installed it. Wonder if there are any collectors of boxed copies of defunct MMOs out there.
Don't know, but I seem to recall that the news of them shutting down was a complete non-surprise. I gave up on the beta a week or two before launch and didn't follow up on it – with the constant change towards more grind, less content and less balance during the last month or so of development, it was pretty clear where that one was heading… Sad, really, because I liked the setting and the art design. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |
