Looking at the Proteus for PvE (don't even bother saying train Tengu xD). Anyone got any decent fits? PvP wise the ship can be fit very well, but i'm having a hard time finding a decent PvE fit.
IMO there should be a change to the drone subsystem so that it can field 5 heavy drones, but maybe take a turret slot away from this system, or reduce the hybrid bonus for that system.
I know you could just get an Ishtar for this role, but would be nice to have a Proteus drone boat, which could ninja around probing. seen as Gallente use drones a lot, it seams odd that the t3 cruiser doesn't have the capacity to fill this roll.
TLDR - Anyone use Proteus for missions/plex, and if so what fit.

I've tried to design several variants for the pve aspect and honestly even though it can be done, there are ships like the domi that just flat out, out perform it. So for the price tag and the performance it's really not worth it unless your really just wanting to do it, just to do it.

Well I fly a Proteus for lvl 4s and to be honest it is a lot more fun than just hitting my F2 key in my CNR waiting for the ship to pop then doing the same to the next target!
However.
In the Proteus to get the best from it you'll need to be blaster fit and that means flying about chasing your targets. So if your after Isk per hour then perhaps some other ship would suit you better.
I have the following, which works just fine for me:
Subs: Nanobot injector Dissolution sequencer Power Core multiplier Hybrid Propulsion Armature Localized injectors
Highs: 6x Neutron blasters
Mids: 1x AB 2x Cap charger IIs
Lows: 1x DCU II 2x Small Centii A type reppers 1x DB Eplosive Hardener 2x ANM IIs 1x Mag Stab II
Rigs: 3x CCC I
Drones: Warrior II & Hammerhead IIs
I find I am Cap stable with everything perma running and can tank every mission easily. You could always add more Mag Stabs if you'd prefer but I like this set-up.
I have to be honest I probably use this ship for around 25% of the missions I fly, just to keep things interesting and to actually feel like im doing something in mission! I sometimes swap out some of the Subs but find this config works OK. Plus it has a drone bay which helps. Granted they cost a lot of Isk but I generally use it for WHs and that sort of thing so it's not just sitting in the hanger most of the time.
Anyway hope this gives you some ideas, but keep in mind that A - it is useable as a lvl 4 mission runner, B - it'll take a bit longer to complete missions and C - you'll use quite a bit of Ammo!

well you are better off with an ishtar as drones are better for PVE when rats scatter all around you have to turn around and go within 5-10km of each of them, after some time it gets boring and ineffective.. though you can turn proteus into a drone boat but ishtar is better it can launch 5 heavy drones.

Edited by: arbalesttom on 26/01/2010 11:22:39 Any of the t3 ships bar the caldari one suck for pve, just like the commandships...
Find it kind of funny....though some weird ac/shieldtanked loki might work okish. ***Sig***
