Well, after some threads in Features & Ideas, Assembly Hall and a topic about it being raised in a CSM meeting, I would like to know why there still isn't even the simplest setting to make a dual-screen client usable. When going dual screen the ship is split in two between the screens. This makes it pretty unusable in this form.
A half-way solution for me is to use the client in a 2560*1050 resolution on a total resolution of 3360*1050 in my case. This way the ship is displayed on one screen with some moving around of the Eve window. It would be whole lot user-friendly, usable and professional if I could change the viewpoint of my ship to the left or right. Also there would be less loss of screen real-estate if it would be better supported.
It doesn't really seem like a programming challenge since we already have great freedon in moving the camera around. So why are we not able to set it permanently in a specific position after so many requests and so much time? Is it part of larger overhaul, not deemed necessary, too much work, something else?
TL;DR ALT-F4

I'm with Sara. I'd LOVE the ability to have the game run on my main 24" Screen, and put all the chat channels/overview/everything else on the 2nd screen.

This is just one of the things that I'd like to see being implemented, another is proper AA support. They care to revamp all the textures and models for ships, planets, asteroids and whatnot but not properly support one of the most widely used (and often downright necessary) effects?
Is there a technical reason for it pherhaps?

AA does work, just not in windowed mode or with HDR turned on and you have to enable it in the driver.
Considering the above I'm assuming its a technical reason.

Unfortunately there's an issue with AA and bloom aswell (flickering lights in astroids), I think there should be an ingame option for AA too. I'm running 1920x1200 and I still feel forced to use AA, the bloom issue doesn't disturb me too much.
It's a shame that players can't fully take advantage of EVE's graphical features.

Since I tried out dominion in dual-screen with all of its graphical goodness it really is a nice experience to view (starfield, planets). But after a while it just doesn't feel right with a ship cut in half by a bezel. Its awkward and feels "unnatural". So reverted back to windowed mode with the XP teletubbie interface and a whole lot of the immersion is gone. And eventhough I run 2 accounts, I mostly concentrate on only one, that I'd like to have in all of its graphical goodness and immersion.

Yes that would be even better (support for asymmetric screens), but its not even what i'm asking for. I'm with you though on this one, but after years of user reply's to dual screen-threads on this matter it seems like "dual-screen" is a censored word in the CCP system. So here I am asking just to move the viewpoint left or right for users that use a symmetrical setup so the ship isn't split in half. We can change the FOV, set ships as interest, parent etc... Why not this? Heck, it even benefits single screen users. Move the centerview of your ship left and show all stuff on the right, or the other way around. It allows for better organization of the screen, something that is really needed in the UI of Eve that constantly throws info at you. Imagine it, all info you want on the left side, right side for your ship. You won't have to wander with your eyes like a maniac all over the screen thinking "damn where did that beep come from" or "is there something new happening".

Its not really an idea, but a question regarding the total silence around this subject from CCP. And that this silence seems illogical illustrated with a simple solution and its beneftis. Benefits that are not totally exclusive to dual-screen users as I have written. If the solution is not that simple then O.K., but some heads up would be nice. Furthermore there are no more ideas needed, the issue has been talked about since 2003 I believe, it's discussed to death. Now it only serves to show that there is a need for a solution for this usability problem.
