I was fairly sure this was EVE Online......and I've heard repeatedly that if you want fair fights and so forth, you're playing the wrong game. I've heard that my entire time in EVE and I don't remember anyone whining that about fairness that got anything but laughed at.
So what game are you guys playing?
I personally frankly care little about the fairness of fights. Though as a corp we don't have an 'official' stance on that (or on anything really
) so individual members may feel differently about it and within r1fta the spectrum runs from full blown e-Bushido to people with multiple link alts. Part of why I love our corp is variety.
*I* play to win, I'm also to lazy for link and falcon alts however so I don't use 'm. If I know people do I'll either simply not fight them or try guerilla tactics.
If you have 200 dudes/dudettes willing to PvP for you in a big blob with tons of e-war by all means do, not using the means at your disposal would be silly.
That being said EVE at it's core is a social game, so no matter how I fight or who I fight and how they fight I do aim for both parties involved to have as much fun (very subjective I know) as is reasonably achievable.
Because if I alienate everybody out of fighting with me I don't get to have fun either, and that would kind off suck for me
.
There's a few nomadic corps in lowsec who are very adapt at this they crash a party get a week of kills and then spend the next 7 or 8 weeks being structurally blue balled by the locals and living of scraps and clueless people who accidentally wander in. It's also why they're nomadic I suspect.
It is very hard to force people to fight in lowsec.
When we originally came to Moldy Heap, the first few weeks were a little awkward, RANSM would come in and shoot us in BC's and T2 cruisers and we'd all die in T1 frigates. Then dynamics happened and it evolved to a situation where we got a little more organized and they ship down a little on occasion,
not trough any agreement but just by playing. It's only so long before you figure out that your Myrmidon is going to be structurally ignored or that if you want to fight a Rupture with 2 Rifters you should probably get on comms...
Bottom line RANSM & r1fta both ended up having more fun. Yes sometimes RANSM still nukes us to oblivion with shiny stuff (really Silver Chair, bro, nuking my Vengeance from orbit with an Arty Mach?
) and on occasion suddenly 10 rifters mwuhahahahaha
Neither of us plays 'fair' we do however keep the others enjoyment somewhere at the back of our mind because we need somebody to shoot at we'd both loose if we stopped shooting each other.
End of ramblings. Oh and we play EVE online, you can't do a sandbox 'wrong'. Unless your name is Gevlon of course.
