So which bits of common.ini do you change now? I tried changing the build and sync with no joy as well as changing the staging to release and still no joy.. Just fails everytime.

As you should already be aware by now, the main reason you can not access the current build of Singularity is because they don't intend you to access it, after all we are only the paying customers, be patient and keep checking, the Suggestion about the display of current version in the login dialog is a good one, please CCP listen to this suggestion I was thinking of something like this myself a while ago, but I know how corps work, so didn't waste my time.
Like I say people be patient and we will get back on there eventually.

A lot of avoidable download bandwidth could be saved....
One has to wonder on days expansion packs are released. Do actual Icelandic residents suffer internet lag..... Click below for my manifesto.

I can assure you if we would rely on the Icelandic bandwidth you would spend more time downloading patches with +/- 1kbs then ingame playin ^^.

Just to make this absolutly clear:
THE REPAIR TOOL IS NOT MENT TO PATCH YOUR CLIENT! Yes you can use a nifty trick but you are risking to put your client into a state which cant be even fixed by the repair tool. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR COMMON.INI MANUALLY UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTLY SURE WHAT YOU ARE DOING! __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Engineering Software Engineer

I haven't touched my common.ini just viewed it and copied to here what it said plus never used the repair program to update my test server ran it like you guys said to make sure everything was ok and it said it was. So I deleted my test server folder and replaced it with a tq folder copy and still get imcompetible release...

nothing wrong there.
The repair tool only checks if the installation you have is correct, so if you have version 118289 it will check that you have the same files as we have for 118289 on our server, it will not automatically update your client just because the server is running on a different version.
To update your client you have to use like before patches.
If you apply the patch and afterwards the client complains that some files are not as it expects them then you can use the repair tool to fix it.
PS. The pink rage was more of a general shout out to make everybody aware of the risks. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Engineering Software Engineer

IT WORKED!! no patches, but running on the evasive and mysterious 404 version. So for all the people looking for the 404 patch, it doesn't exist, just delete your sisi client and re-copy your TQ client with "C:\evetest\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.50 as the shortcut target, and pew pew to your hearts content (or actually test stuff) :)
I have a feeling CCP are trying to be subtle, and saying DON'T TRY AND DOWNLOAD PATCHES THAT WE HAVN'T RELEASED YET! 404 not found, because there is no such patch, thus don't try to look for it, don't try to hack the download link, and don't make 5 different threads on the forums pointing to where the patch would be....if it existed in the first place...

ahhh Its works! Just added " /server:87.237.38.50" or " /server:singularity" suffix to my evetest exe shortcut target line. So anybody tell me if I'm right.....
because singularity is a test server they are usually 1 or more patches ahead of tranquility on that server. Which is why they provide the patch they are currently developing to individuals to manually patch a given individual's test client should they want to use singularity. Because dominion just came out they're not that far out in front yet as to have a newer build for dominion:singularity than for dominion:tranquility. therefore (as of this moment, but not for long) they're the same. They havn't provided the patch yet because there isn't one. Thats why the link to it is broken.
sooooo, I settled for having my eve and my evetest be the same build and just added the singularity suffix and it worked. (there was a patch this morning but all still applies, just apply it to your eve client and your evetest client. Dont forget the "space" after the slash(not backslash).

You Sir are a pretty smart guy.
I only can add that Singularity (due the fact that it is the biggest testserver) is generally used to test the Live build which later gets deployed to Tranquility and due to this it can happen that Signularity is running on the same version as Tranquility - the difference to the same situation in the past is that we had the server parameter in the start.ini which made it basically necessary to patch due to PICNIC issues. Since the parameter is now hardcoded into the build itself and only can be changed by adding the /server: parameter to the exe shortcut patching is not necessary anymore.
PS. The main reason why we dont have a readme or similar for this situation is that around patch days the deployment schedule for SISI can be quite chaotic and to prevent people from running into EIFOK issues over and over again we expect them to by as smart as you Sir. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Engineering Software Engineer

this is not nesseary, it can take a while until you can log in to SISI if you are totally new to eve but every account which is 1 or 2 month old should be able to log into SISI. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Engineering Software Engineer

Edited by: Tersh Eeayree on 11/12/2009 06:04:11 Sorry for not being specific but the damn messages don't lend themselves to copy and paste. After the last patch, I was getting some pita window when I would try to start test server version saying saying some value was wrong or something.
So I deleted my entire test server folder. Created a new one and downloaded the latest full build to that new folder. The build number when i start the test server shortcut works in that the opening screen pops up but it says i have an incompatible release. However, in the top corner it says it is 118289 which your website says is the latest Sisi version. So there is no patch I can download.
I was having no problems getting on the test server until the last patch right before you released Dominion. Now I download the latest version of the test server client and i get told it's an "incompatible release". What is wrong with this now?

This is a testrun for TQ, wait until TQ is updated and then just copy your client and add the server flag as described in this thread. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Engineering Software Engineer

Been trying to get back on the test server for a week now
I've been on the test server a number of times before but the "Tranquility to Singularity" patch is not on there like it used to be...I assume because they're currently running the same build...Either way,I would add the "server flag" (if that's all I have to to to get back on Sisi) if I new where to find it on this thread and what to do with it.
I'm so confused.
This site doesn't seem to be up to date.

Yea this is how i feel - been going in circles for two weeks since i last had the test server running. I just downloaded the new build 121200 from scratch and it still just says "incompatible (release)" at log in...I don't know, bah! maybe it will work tomorrow.
I don't know if complaining works well as an incentive to make the test server more user friendly to access like it does for TQ, but it makes me feel better.
Been dieing to test out a very expensive ship on sleepers in Sisi so I don't blow myself up on TQ, so really this is deterring me from being a satisfied customer until I can try it.

I ran repair.exe twice, downloaded a total of 3 gigs worth of stuff, in the end it patched it from test server to tranquility and now, once again, I have to go through the whole process of making it work again. I am throughly convinced that ccp does not want more then 50 ppl on the test servfer... why else make it so difficult?
