In a bit of a hurry, so haven't had a chance to read the whole thread yet so this might have already been mentioned -- any possibility of defaulting to transparent background on the page like the old IGB if a background color isn't specified? It's nice to be able to see behind the window while you're in space. :) As it stands now, if you don't specify a background color for the page, moondoggie defaults to white.

Edited by: Twistalous on 07/10/2009 04:21:18 Also, it appears links to fleets no longer work?!? Is there a javascript function that allows this? Otherwise, my whole app is dead in the water, completely.
Ideally, it would be great to have a "join fleet" and "leave fleet" javascript function.

We have briefly discussed fleet related javascript functions, but I will bring them up again on monday.
Any movement on this?
Here are the three functions on the wish list right now (might not see all these as there's an edit pending approval):
javascript:CCPEVE.JoinFleet(fleetID) javascript:CCPEVE.LeaveFleet() javascript:CCPEVE.AddToWatchList(characterID)
Of the three, AddToWatchList() is least important to me. I can even live without LeaveFleet(), though that one would be nice to have. :) But JoinFleet() is really, really important. We have an extensive fleet management application that we use that while it wouldn't be *dead*, would lose a key feature if we couldn't provide instant links to the fleet.
I know there's supposed to be some new fleet management stuff coming in Dominion, but our IGB app does a lot of different things that are really important for our FCs and we'd like to be able to keep it all in one place rather than having our users manage fleet interactions in different parts of the game.

Originally by: Sky Grunthor Twist, remember that with any action that causes a possible exploitable issue there has to be some kind of confirmation.
For example in JoinFleet, there would have to be some kind of user confirmation in the client (not igb) before actually joining fleet. This would be to prevent the website from immediately forcing people who navigate to it from being automaticaly forced to join the fleet if they are not already part of one.
The same kind of thing would have to be considered for AddToWatchlist and LeaveFleet. The availabilty for abuse by the website needs to be removed.
Sky, that's true, I suppose. It's just sort of annoying that such a leap forward in the IGB as this new version is also causing us to lose some nice functionality we had before. In the current IGB you can link to a fleet invite link and there's no confirmation prompt given. In fact, I haven't tried it, but I suspect you could probably do a redirect to the fleet link and automatically put someone in the fleet just like you're suggesting in your scenario above.
While a confirmation isn't the end of the world, it's just one more click that people have to do. I like to streamline things. :)

Just popping in to get in my periodic request for status on Fleet-related JS functions for Dominion. Please, please, please? :)
Any update on whether this will happen?

Originally by: CCP Nimbus Regarding Javascript fleet functionality, this will not be happening for Dominion 1.0. Will it ever happen? We just don't know.
To be honest, that's extremely disappointing. You've essentially rendered hundreds of hours of development work virtually useless, not to mention causing a whole alliance to change a lot of procedures.
Since I'm the one who spent the hundreds of hours developing the stuff, it's pretty frustrating.

Just wondering about the purpose of this whole webapp can do for an FC having a joinfleet on a page.
This wasn't developed for Dominion ... it was developed on the current IGB using the existing ability to link fleet invites. It's a complete fleet management tool, including a listing of current fleets, providing the FC of each fleet with fleet composition management, auto-updating fleet location with maps, managing people's ship capabilities, fleet participation reporting, CTA notifications, etc. Granted most of this functionality will still work fine, but it's annoying that fleet members now have to go to two separate locations to deal with fleets (go to the new fleet finder to find the fleet, then go and join the fleet in our tool).
Granted, I'm extremely happy with the performance of the new IGB, which will make working with our tool much better than the current IGB. And I understand the technical limitations of the new IGB not supporting the existing link structures available in the current IGB. It just seems a shame that they weren't able to replicate all the existing functionality with javascript functions. I would have thought that it would have been high on the priority list to at least provide all of the current functionality of the IGB in the new version.

This is implemented on CCP internal servers, just not SiSi yet. Talked to CCP Vertex about this today.
