Can the "Materials For War Preparation" be removed from the storyline missions ? I'm presented with this sad excuse of a storyline 2/3rds of the time and it's boring and gives a minimum of faction points.

If people were smart enough to wait until just before the bonus timer finishes to turn them in this wouldn't be an issue.

I love that mission. I fly a few jumps, buy some minerals, and get a few million isk and/or a phatty implant worth 15+M.
And you want to remove it?

Edited by: Kuralkion on 14/09/2009 16:23:30 I get "Materials For War Preparation" far too often as well. It is particularly silly to do 16 kill missions just to get presented with such a lame storyline mission. After all its not about quick ISK, its about raising your action standing.
I suggest that the type of storyline mission somehow reflects the types of the 16 missions you did to get it (so if you did 8 courier and 8 kill missions it would be 50% chance for each of the two types of storyline missions to be offered etc).

QFT.
The last time I did this mission I got an implant worth 22+M on the open market. The mission took me all of 15 minutes to do. That's like ... 1.5M per minute.

Most complete the mission in 30 seconds.
Implant worth 22 mil in 30 secs = 2.6 bil an hour ... if could only get lots of these missions ...
The comment about if people would wait to turn the mission in, would get more standings is correct. Missions standings/time are related. Complete quickly and over time the time to get the bonus decreases, and this is how the mission time is like 12-13 minutes now and little standings. Take recon 1/3 which takes all of 2-3 minutes to complete, but since some farm the bounties the time to complete is about 5 hours and hence the corp/personal standings are much better. Same with Materials for war prep. Everyone completing the mission in 30 seconds has reduced the time/standings towards the minimum possible. While everyone blaming ccp for it, its the player behaviour which has done it to themselves.

Well that all sounds like a great plan.
All who read this and would like to participate in the test simply hold off on completing the "Materials For War Preparation" till close to the bonus timer ends (1 Hour or so).
You can do maybe 2 L4's in that time and make enough ISK to buy a complete set of standard implants...
Hope you all will try this too.
I Will
(And please don't tell me you do not have a stash of the required ore on that station ...)

1 hour till the bonus time expires? Is 12 or 13 minutes where I mission.
I'm talking the lvl 4 version, lower levels have less doing them so have longer times generally.
But taken to the extreme, if it had the max time allocation, the lvl 4 materials for war prep would give 8.75% faction standing. I have done many of the other lvl 4's which do give the max time allocation and its 8.75% factional standing (social 5 trained). Many cosmos mission also give much less standings now than they used too - same reasons of people buy tags, complete the missions in a few seconds.
Its part of the automatic mission balancing - if the mission completes quickly, over time the time allocation decreases. ccp would say 'working as intended'. Then again you could have an automated response reply 'working as intended'

Instead of whining about it here, go here and add some constructive criticism in the area of the forums that might actually get the mission looked into being fixed. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P
