This man speaks truth. As a 'skirmish' boat its intended for speed and range, and was oddly enough introduced just before the nano nerf. So now its not as fast as one would like and does sub par damage. Hurray.

Its pretty fast, but grid and thus damage is pretty subpar:

I bought one for the heck of it to do lvl 1 and 2 missions in and for this it works fantastic. It aligns as fast as a assault frigate and reaches similar velocities, yet it has the tank and firepower of a cruiser. It may even be good enough to kite lvl 3 missions.
Also, it retains the cargo capacity of the standard issue Osprey and with the agility it makes a nice transport for lvl 1-3 courier missions.
Worth the price? No, not really, but it is fun to fly. -------- Ideas for: Mining

Anyone seen flying a navy osprey should be shot.
Absolutely terrible ship.
Literally is worse then a caracal.
The fact they cost 50 mill or so is bad enough, seeing someone put 3 field extenders on one makes me want to cry.
Could've given them me to put on a merlin.

It has extraordinary agility, even by Caldari standards. It's not exactly slow either.

Warrior II x2
264 DPS, 3.3 s agility, 2200 m/s.
I've had one in hangar for ages, but I've been waiting for rig changes to fit it up. With the TD and mobility I'm optimistic of being able to kite and kill T1 turret cruisers, and attempt to run like a girl as soon as any missile/drone boat turns up.

Edited by: Bak Vlok on 17/08/2009 19:23:15 It is a great utility ship if you can appreciate the speed. I had a triple nanofibered one from early on and it never let me down.
Early on before the nano-nerf it easily went over 4 km/s. It still has frigate agility and cruiser power.
It's probably the best boat to blitz L2 missions (courier included) and I've also kited some COSMOS plexes with it. Non-kinetic damage is on par with the Navy Caracal.

From the looks of it, it seems to be about as useful as my Navy Augoror.
Not very.

Yeah they were viable as nano boats before the nerf and were actually seeing a bit of use then after the nerf they are just another weak faction cruiser thats a bit faster than most.

maybe the new rigs might make them viable.

Before nano nerf it used to be reasonable HAM platform. After nano nerf and missile damage formula change that went with it it's useless other than spinning around in station or perhaps nail some noobs that think it's regular osprey.
I mean for actual pewpew as was pointed out above caracal does it better.

I'm fairly sure the nano nerf came before this ship. Or maybe I've just always ignored it.

Use it like an oversized Crow tbh. It's agility is downright freakish, it handles more like a slightly slow frigate than a cruiser.

Isn't the Caracal Navy Issue slightly more agile than the Navy Osprey?
I'm pretty convinced its useless.

Yeah, Navy Caracal is more agile, but slower. Also, I'm not going to dispute that it's basically useless, I'll just use it as an expensive toy for humiliating people (lolz you got killed by an Osprey!) and running away like a girl.

Buy a faction point and stay out of neut/scorch range. Profit. You're faster than almost any other cruiser, and you've got a 120km range, and your pick of damage types. You can figure something out ;0
