Not joking.
I fit my ishtar with pulses and replaced a omni-tracking link with another cap recharger and I haven't looked back. excellent range (with Scorch) and better damage and tracking than rails, even considering the bonus to hybrids. A bit sad really.

rails are weak on the damage output, being a longrange weapon, when compared to pulse lasers. And they have lower tracking.

I shouldn't have said "suck", cause it doesn't suck at PVE, but I think it does need a weapon system in those 3 high slots that can contribute meaningful DPS.

Edited by: Deva Blackfire on 10/08/2009 13:40:33 Duh depends what ya need it for. I already used:
200mm ACs - for ceptor smacking (+neut/web) small neutron blasters - npcing gatling - aggro medium beams - ceptor smacking (no web)
And ofc. 3-4 different medium sized guns. Fit whatever makes ya happy, duh.
Also as it is for pve you dont fit "because it has moar range" gun, you fit gun to hit weakest resists. Have fun using your "uber schorch lasers" vs guristas or angels.

What about your favorite ship the Myrmidon. It has no bonuses, and you fit blasters.
I guess when you are camping the undock location in Jita, range is rarely an issue.

lol, stop embarassing yourself. "carebear" "EFT warrior"
Way to get insulted there, you even felt the need to come up with meaningless insults.
lol.
Aslo, learn how to compare ships. To compare them objectively one uses level 5 skills. When making your own ship, one uses your own skills. Also you fail, if you think that most players deviate that far form an all level 5 skill on theri own setups. At least the serious ones.

i wouldnt base any ishtar fit around medium lasers. just leaves way too many gaps. for example, no cap injector, no mwd, or no sentry rigs. there are lots of good fits that incorporate medium pulse II's though.

No, serious players use their imaginations to come up with the most effective out of the box setups to surprise an enemy and take advantage of a situation. The auto cannon Punisher is an example of this "out of the box" thinking. ~ The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on. |

yes, but hes gimping his entire loadout just to fit medium lasers. Lishtars look good on paper, but you cant kill anything with them. centre your build around maximizing speed/tank, utility (i.e. TD/anti-frig capability/tackle etc.) and sentries. more often than not, an ishtar with medium lasers will lack: dps, speed, tank, and/or utility. there are fits that can do all of the above.

no matter what... with all gunnery at V, you will not do more damage on a bonused ships with mis-matchted weapons. its simple math.
and "out of the box" t1 frigs are only good for killing newbs and miners..... not serious players.

Rails are **** unless you're shooting Spike.
If the OP is shooting antimatter out of rails, even T2, I can understand the idea of T2 lasers with scorch, similar range, better tracking up close, maybe even more damage, hybrid bonus and all.

I should have made it clearer that I was talking about PVE only. I wouldn't fit lasers on a PVP build either.

"Serious" players don't sit around on forums all day talking about how serious they are
You tend to want to fit to your bonuses, but blindly sticking to them isn't going to accomplish anything. The best fit is the best fit, even if it ignores the bonuses.
A laser Ishtar does make sense for ratting mainly for the no ammo consumption.

False. There are plenty of examples of widely accepted "best" fits that completely ignore bonuses.
