Agreed, Legion is garbage. Underpowered subsystems, lack of flexibility - Proteus outclasses it in every respect.

Originally by: Saldoro This whine is only directed towards the Amarr and Gallente T3 ships - the Proteus and the Legion. Setup on these ships is pretty much identical being armour tanked.
Let's stop right there.
What about these ships make them armour tankers? The fact that they're Amarr and Gallente? Now, you do know that there are numerous ships from both those races that work far better as shield tankers than using armourà
It's the slot layout and ship purpose that determines what kind of tank you want ù not the race the ship belongs to. If you narrowmindedly think that race dictates tanking type, you are forever doomed to use sub-par cookie-cutter setups that everyone and their dog can predict and counteract.
The reason Amarr are "labeled" armor tankers (apart from the back story) is the fact that they have higher native resists on armor and virtually none on shields and that they have more armor than shields too...not to mention their poor mid slot layouts. Throwing over sized shield extenders and speed mods on a couple of Amarrian ships does not define the race...they are the exception. You might want to research some Amarrian history to understand why you are wrong in your assumption also.
That being said, it's good to think outside the box and I agree some shield tank setups work on Amarrian ships very well, but like I said they are the exception and do not define the race.

None of which matters. The ships do not define the race; the race do not define the fittings. The race is only backstory and does not matter a whit.
The ships define the fittings, which is my whole point: ignoring what the ship can (and is supposed to) do given its abilities and slot layout for reasons of race is pretty damned stupid. I make no assumptions — I ingore irrelevancies such as back story and look at purpose instead. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Couldn't agree less, You're all forgetting it uses lasers and as such has 4x more range than any proteus, I think all the strategic cruisers have their highs and lows. Proteus= Sweet tank and DPS but uber short range, Legion= ice DPS long range Sweet tank Loki= EPIC TANK Tengu= EPIC TANK nice Dps to boot

Amarr are shield tankers because if you're going to put a 1600 plate on a cruiser hull you might as well fly a battleship or a battlecruiser. And even battlecruisers are usually better shield tanked. The only reason to fly small and expensive ships is maneuverability, which armor tanking robs you of. |

With T2 BS for example they are only used by the carebear class where there is no risk and owners have isk to burn as the ship makes them their isk.
Oh really!? Care to have another stab at that?
Ain't the first time either

The OP might have taken the time to explain in his original post that the only target he engages are ratting Ravens (thereby explaining his lack of interest in Tracking Disruptors). It would have saved a lot of time for most everyone concerned.
Within the extremely narrow perspective he defines (cloaking, bubble immunity, non-PVP fit targets) the Proteus is quite probably the superior ship.
For the rest of the EVE population there is a lot of room for debate.
