Ever notice how we have two classes of small ships, Frigates and Destroyers, two classes of Medium ships, Cruisers and BC's, but only one class of large ships, that being Battleship?
I'm suggesting a new class of ship, a Heavy Battleship, or something, I'm sure someone can come up with a more creative name then that. Make it require Battleship 3, and the Heavy Battleship skill, just like Destroyers and BC's require Frig or Cruiser at level 3, and their respective skills. The Heavy Battleship skill would require Spaceship Command 5, in keeping with the other skills like it, as they only require spaceship command.
What do you guys think?

Battleships are already heavy.

I want, but I doubt.
Like the guy above me said, battleships are already "heavy", having a more powerful version of a BS is probably overpowered. I think BC's and Destroyers are there to provide something with a bit more kick before you get to the next class. After Battleships, there isn't a clear next class. I mean, yea, carriers or dreads or something like that, but if you look at cruiser, it requires frig 4, and bs requires cruiser 4, and the next thing after a bs would need bs 4, but there isn't one.
Anyway, if you read that wallotext and understood it, goodjob!

Destroyers don't fly like frigates, and BCs don't fly like cruisers.
BCs and Destroyers aren't heavier versions of their ship class, they're "in-between" ship classes.

The point of this being? You'll have to provide some slightly better reasoning than "because there's a vague connection to the other ship sizes"

Ever notice how 99.9% of the suggestions out there are totally useless babble concocted by someone who wants a moar uber version of what they are best at doing?

TBH all the ship designations are from old eve.
A 'Battleship' now is more like a cruiser or heavy cruiser since the introduction of 'True' Capital ship classes.
To me a 'Battleship' should be a Capital ship geared to fleet Combat perhaps that can both jump and gate.
But I think there should perhaps be a group of Sub capitals that combine the jumpdrives and gating abilities of both ship classes, such as battlecarriers with direct fire weps and limited fighter ability and gun platforms such as a 'battleship', aimed midway on the capital skill chain.

Maybe something along the lines of the Escort Carriers that I saw floating about? Half way between a Battleship and a Carrier?

Me personally I'd say yes.
At the moment there's a huge mountain of skills for the capitals and nothing inbetween and also with the new reality of blobs and larger gang sizes, something more durable but not overpowering, but offers independant movement combined with limited jump ability.

Yes, I know the only thing bigger then battleships are cap ships. I'm talking about something in between battleships and cap ships, maybe that you could take into highsec. Those "battle carrier" and "escort carrier" sound sort of like what I had in mind.
Maybe an over sized battleship that can carry 5 fighters?
Something in between battleships and cap ships though, was what I was aiming for.

I think what the OP is talking about is an in between ship which is not super expensive nor super powerful.
However it'd be sub capital like the orca to void the gap between BS and Dread.
From what I remember there has been many suggestions on this area.

I have made more than one suggestion about this very same thing. It either gets widely applauded or a bunch of people who think more ships is a bad thing.

Personally I'd love to have some ships that's sole purpose is to Hit Pos'es and Capital ships.
I'd suggest 100% damage on 8 turrets but -75% tracking and make them turn/ warp / move like a freighter.

Monitor What about a BS that can mount a single Dreadnaught mount...this would give POS's in Empire something to fear. Of course then you need to give POS's a weapon to counter a Monitor, that or make it so Monitor cannot be repped as good as a normal ship.
In American Civil War a monitor was a ship that had a large mortar like cannon to lob super heavy rounds onto targets...(I think thats accurate) historicly they have been large unstable ship with lots of armor

There's alot of merit in such a class of ships I think.
And no a Dreadnaught isn't a Heavy Battleship by any stretch of the imagination it's a pos killer with 'some' anti cap ability.
