Some Things are just obvious, or at least feel that way. Many ideas you see on these forums range from "unbalancing" to "Are you sure you're talking about the right game?"
But some of them are simple, useful, and have no affect on game balance whatsoever. You might even say that some of them are... ... Blatantly Obvious:
1 ~ The People in the Corner This idea I saw on this very board some months ago. Seems to have gotten lost since... Do not tell me that you have never once in your EVE career tried to right-click the character portrait in the lower right corner that appears when one of your buddies logs on. Thought so.
Basically, right-clicking on it should be the same as right-clicking someone's portrait in a channel member. It can't get more Blatantly Obvious than this, a feature that would not have any effect on game balance, and one that most people assume is already there, but then *click*click*click* "hey..."
2 ~ MOAR RITE-KLIK! Now, with the certificate planner and training queue windows added, I think these should be accessible by right-clicking the character sheet button on the UI. Likewise, the Fitting manager window should be accessible by right-clicking the fitting services button. Etc, etc.
Currently, the only NeoCom buttons with right-click options are the "join/ create channel" for the Channels and Mailing lists button and the play/pause/etc for the jukebox. Another idea with no effects on game balance, that only makes the game more user friendly.
3 ~ Spambots and solutions -Autopetition: Add a filter to Public channels (unnecessary for player-made ones) that automatically notifies a GM if a character posts the same message multiple times, containing the same URL. In other words, a GM will be notified of any URL-containing message that is posted multiple times. (this filter could operate with a blacklist and detect if the bot has simply separated the .com from the URL, like they all seem to be doing these days) Essentially, this is a system that autopetitions ISK-seller spambots. The filter does not automatically ban the player, in case of a false result. The idea isn't fully refined, bots might just post without the URLs, but at least it would cut down their numbers.
- Block list crowding: Clear all button for block list, or remove deleted/banned characters from it. To be exact: If I want to see what actual people I got blocked, I don't want to have to wait 5 minutes for it to load over nine thousand spam-bots as well.
- Rightclick-block/rightclick-petition spam: You know what I'm talking about...
-URL blacklist: There is one, isn't there? Right?
4 ~ Player Hangar Divisions Really, at least give us one section for slots and one for the rest of the crap. If not more. Would only be of convenience for players.
5 ~ Dude, where's my cargo The new cargo space indicator. Some love it, some hate it, some emoragequit. I'm not sure my self, I sort of like it, but it does take up a rather unnecessary amount of window space. But Please, increase the hue difference between the empty and occupied parts of it, or even change the occupied bit back to orange. It would look better in orange, if nothing else...

10 ~ Reconnect to drone Obvious, isn't it? If you're in the same grid as an abandoned drone belonging to your corporation, you can right-click - connect to drone. Then it will come back and behave as if you've just launched it. This means that in case of a disconnect during a mission, you'll probably be able to retrieve them. In case of bugging out of a PvP fight, they're a loss. (also, make them tractorable?)
sorry, this is a game changing idea, and i must strongly ask against it. you have NO IDEA how much isk i can make with 15 minutes and a scanner, collecting t2 drones people have left behind. adding any kind of reconnect feature severely detracts from that profit margin.
what i will say though, is that they should tag along in an emergancy warp, both ways. the only legitimate complaint from this argument is that people often get random disconnects during missions. i get them myself, and i know the frustration of getting randomly desynced, and logging back in to find the rats have chewed your drones to pieces in your absence.
so if someone quits, or logs out, or gets disconnected then by all means, drag the drones along with them, and keep them connected. anything else, and you need to go pick them up manually.
edit: also think about it. if CCP didnt have a good reason for allowing drone disconnected, why would they even bother making it possible to disconnect from your drones? having a drone disconnect option might be a practical upshot IRL, but in the game, you have to ADD disconnection, not remove it.
-.- damn, you're right, I guess. removed.

Originally by: Adrian Idaho I completely agree with all items on your list, Shadow. One more thing that frequently comes to my mind (and those of a lot of others):
Remote stacking/unstacking: we can already shift stacks remotely, but we have to start making a contract to do it -> cumbersome. And yes, we can remotely stack items by setting up a sell order and buying from it, and, if necessary, shift the stack again. But that can cost quite some money (up to 3%), is risky (someone might buy your stuff before you can) and is probably the dirtiest hack in the history of EVE. Besides, if we can remotely unstack, why the hell can we not remotely stack. It would even unburden the servers
Oh, and one more thing: make the right-click-ship context menu in space easier to access. I frequently zoom out to a distance I can't even see my ship anymore; setting a JB password or ejecting becomes a drag Possible solutions: a short-cut or a button in the neocon that opens that context menu.
Please, CCP, pleeeaaase?
Actually, you can just right-click your cap indicator for the ship context menu. But remote stacking is added to OP.

Originally by: Parmala Udoni Here's one I thought of after CCP added the percent-used indicator to cargo containers: how about showing the total volume of the currently-selected objects, so if I have a bunch of different stuff (loot, rocks etc.) in a can, I don't have to break out the old TI-99 to convert units of veld into metric cubes, then add that to the volume of three 1mn ab's and a round dozen cap booster 25's just so I can pick out as much as will fit in my cargo hold?

This. And while we're at it: allow us to abort the locking sequence. Sometimes it takes so long to target something, that you have already changed your mind (for whatever reason) before it is locked. This shouldn't be a big change.
Man I hope CCP listens to those blatantly obvious suggestions. We should do some lobbying...

you can already bind keys to make drones return, return and orbit, attack... why can we not have a "launch drones" hotkey? so, when im flying my brutix, i can press two buttons and launch my drones?
sure, its limiting but you could also go into depth with it and bind specific drone groups to say a group ID, say "rightclick drone group > assign ID > 1"
and then in the hotkeys options "set launch drone group ID 1 > *eg* ctrl + shift + 1"
better huh?
also, with the buddy list logon avatar thing, make it so if you left click it or something, it goes away? because ill be in a mission, someone logs in, and my drone window is covered for a good 5 seconds... i dont like losing my drones in missions, and that bloody head popup has caused me to lose a few!

Horizontal Scroll Bars on tables. Honestly... why do tables not have horizontal scroll bars? Tables are the most extensively used UI element in EVE and almost all tables are by far wider than the default window size! Being able to horizontally scroll tables would make it possible to not have all windows larger than needed, just because one ot of ten tabs has a huge table.
This is a major UI design flaw that should not have existed in the first palce. (QA, anyone?)

... so I can turn that pointless annoying sensor booster glow off without missing the fact that someone launched a 250km radius 77,000-damage bomb?
Oh yeah, and corp management stuff:
- Expired corp orders should release escrow immediately, not when the person that posted the order decides to cancel it. If not, then they should at least stay visible under corp orders.
- Alliances should be able to be applied to via search results, not just via the RANKINGS tab.
- Copying slots should be able to be set to alliance access.

Swap the recover probes button with the reconnect to lost probes button. More than a few times my inaccurate mousing skills have pulled my probes back in with a simply misclick on the 'Recover Probes' button adjacent to the intended target 'Analyze' button. If these 2 buttons are swapped a misclick next to analyze would simply click reconnect to lost probes, likely having no effect. At least you wouldn't lose your probe positioning.
If swapping a button is too easy, perhaps allowing the user to cancel the reconnect to lost probes. It seems there is a short delay, could a confirm dialog or some keystroke be implemented?
