Hi all,
I am just wondering, I have been exploring many magnometric sites in lowsec (0.5-0.1) and the loot is at best... a joke.
Ratting in lowsec or even in highsec + salvage brings in more ISK than those magnometric sites.
Is it just me or are the archaeologic skills completely wasted on those sites?
Thank you! :)

Try one in 0.0 or highgrade wormhole, you'll talk different.

magno in lowsec was usually not worth it. but... in some rare occasions there seems to be a different/new type of magno that seems more worth it. I landed in one lowsec (0.1) site with about 30 (white) Wrecks, but i codulnt tractor or see a Tag on it, so it must be from that site. Was a hassle to fly to each one, but salvage was somewhat ok.

Those are also crap. It takes ages for the analyzer and salvager to process the "spetial" cans and wrecks and they drop crap or even are empty. |

I have yet to see a t2 rig bpc or t2 salvage or any significant salvage from a lo sec mag. Hi sec ones are a joke. So yeah, IMO, mags are a waste of time anywhere but WH space, and maybe null sec. Training for it is no longer a waste however as you can do WH mags.

Ive done heaps of mag sites in null sec. I'd classify them as okay Not nearly as lucrative as radar sites. I've never gotten a t2 rig bpc of any real worth, but I realize some surely have.

They were ok when they were the only place (besides of cosmos) dropping the encryption methods skillbook. At that time the skillbooks sold for 150mil...
but nowadays i don't bother with them anymore

Is what you get from a given object being accessed based on your skill level? Because I found a hisec mag site yesterday and it had nothing. Opened all the wrecks and there was absolutely nothing in any of them.
I was kinda . What's the point of a site if there's nothing there?

You were just unlucky. Just like salvaging, improved code breaker/analyzer skills just change the chance that you will access the object, not what the object contains. ----- I'm a collector! Want to trade? See my Collection List and contact me. |

ok iam sorry, i thought the discussion thrtead pointed that i meant 0.0 magno sites
your right. MOST lowsec magno are not worth it (but i had 1 strange magno site that was different, and i woudl consider worth it), but the 0.0 are...

That's what I figured.
It still cheesed me off. What's the point of spawning a site if there's absolutely nothing there? It's bad design. Hell I don't care if there's just one little rig bit, at least it's something.

nullsec Magnetometric are excellent if you are into T2 salvaging. If you don't plan to use the relevant skills fully though, I'd guess you wouldn't like to go after them.

There must have been something there or you wouldn't have found it.

Is it possible someone (almost) emptied it but didn't trigger the despawn? I did a couple of radar sites that didn't seem to despawn.
I found one or two mag sites in lowsec and they were both pretty 'meh' compared to the radar sites.. Although I didn't have a salvager at the time, so I couldn't do the salvagable containers. Maybe that makes some difference.

This.
These sites, especially in highsec seems to not despawn immediately even when cleaned out. I've found several empty ones and out of curiosity, asked in local and had someone tell me they scanned it down and got everything from it up to and over an hour before. I warped out and back, and it despawned. Probably just a despawn glitch.
