Am I right in understanding that all t2 bpo's have been given out, and that none ever will be again?
If that is the case, then what is the utility of R&D agents? Every guide I've read says that the whole point of R&D agents is to get t2 bpos.
What am I missing here?
Thanks for your help.

R&D agents will exchange RP you have with them for datacores. These datacores are then used in the invention process to convert T1 BPCs into T2 BPCs.
You can thank the invention process for lowering the price of most T2 items and ships. Before invention, Hulks usually cost 500mil or more, and it was not uncommon for Expanded Cargohold II's and Cap Recharger II's to cost 20-25mil. Now, you'll find Hulks for 100mil and those modules for ~1mil. ---

I see. I've read the brief ccp explination of inventions, and I have a couple of other questions.
1. Is there value in researching a t1 bpo to make highly efficent bpc's to be used in the invention process? Does the ME and PE carry through to the t2 bpc?
2. So there are no more t2 bpo's available, correct?

For the purposes of invention, there is no benefit at all for having any levels of PE or ME on the blueprint. They don't matter one bit. Those have set levels on the resulting BPC if invention is successful (base is -4 ME and 0 PE) modified by decryptors used (if any). What does matter is the production limit. Usually you want to use a copy with max runs remaining for invention. Aside from ships, where the default is you get a 1-run BPC from a successful invention anyway, using less than a max-run T1 BPC will result in losing production runs on the T2 BPC you get. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

this, and to answer 2, no more t2 bpo's will be given out, the only way to get them now is to buy them from other players, expect to pay a crapload though. -sig- Support the introduction of Blaze crystals for Amarr!

Slight correction, all T2 BPC's have a base of -4ME and -4PE.

Not sure if youve got all the answers you need from this thread or not, but I penned a guide for R&D/Invention a while back, if its any help, feel free to read it.

Theres also the Evelopedia Invention page which gives information as well.

Datacores are valuable on their own. I quit Eve for two years and came back to an R&D agent who handed me 400 cores. It's like my trust fund.
By skilling into Research Project Management (need Research and Lab Ops both at 5) you can have multiple agents working and making RPs which turn into datacores which you can use for either invention or fast cash. Once you have the infrastructure in place, it can be several million ISK a day without even logging in. (once you cash in the datacores)
