There is a game breaking problem with this:
I play with my Items window merged with the agents/guets/station window. I cannot move ths fitting screen, so it overlaps the items, so I cannot fit anything unless I close the right side (stats/resists) of the fitting screen. I have to open-close again if I want to see the effect of the fitted mods, then fit something else.
The issues which have been mentioned before, but cannot be repeated enough times: - Unmovable, while overlapping other, necessary windows and buttons - Unintuitive: lowslots left, medslots right? - Takes up too much space - Too small module icons while taking up more space - No separate icons for ammo (This is also a problem with the inspace weapon icons) - The CPU/POWER bars are not clear, where is their beginning and their ending, and their curved shape makes them badly readable.
I'm VERY disappointed in this design, this is a usability nightmare.

Be great if we could toggle back to the old one.
I would imagine they would put a 'classic' option on the interface, as with all new things, people scream and kick at being forced to change, so a fallback position would be wise.

why is it people assumes that its change people dont like rather that the fact that teh interface isnt usible for them? i do not see the reason i have to change my play style jsut because ccp want to screw up something that only needed minor alteration to work with t3. said it before and ill say it again. this is form over fucntion and that is a bad thing.

My only gripe with the new fitting screen is that modules with charges loaded only display the charge icon (instead of having the module with a little charge sub-icon as before), so at a glance it's not clear what the module in that slot is.
Everything else I don't have a problem with.

While the idea of listing all modules present in the station is not too bad, I'd really prefer the list to be able to look into specific containers. To clarify, when I am running missions, I'll put all the loot into a big pile in my hangar. So if I want to change my hardener for another rat type, I open a small conti, where all the mission stuff is (tags, hardener, hull repper, plate, drones and ammo). With the drag down menu, I get all the stuff I got in the last 1 to 10 missions of which 80% is simply there, because I haven't melted it down. But if I could change the drop down list to only include what is in my little mission container... THAT would be more useful.

While I like the design style of the new fitting window, from a usability and ergonomics viewpoint it is not a good design. The problem being that everything that you want to be looking at during fitting is shown in a big circle. This continuously draws your eyes to different points and creates a restless UI. While the idea of the ship in the middle is interesting, it merely creates an adsense of information in the area where your information "centre-of-gravity" is.

I think the simplest solution would be to add another button to the bar on the left that opens your "fitting hangar" which works just like the items hangar we have now (I suppose corp hangar tabs are a better example) but you wouldn't have to worry about cluttering it up (not sorting it with containers). Just dump all the ammo, drones and modules you regularly use on your ship fittings there.
And like many others, I'd seriously like to keep the old fitting window. The bottom has plenty of room for the t3 subsystem slots beside the rig slots. Why is there 8 rig slots anyway, since ships only have 2 or 3? New window has me looking all over the screen AND it's bloody hard to read due to the station graphics/other UI behind it. Seriously needs the option to set it opaque.

To all you complaining about size and overlapping windows, have you tried clicking the ">>" and "<<" things? Those are the universal Eve "collapse/expand" buttons. Those of you complaining probably don't know you can hide the buttons to the left of your in-space HUD either.
I admittedly haven't actually used it yet, but looking at it carefully tells me that it seems much more useful and that it provides much more info than the old one (and looks better too).

Needs "drones" and "cargo" button to open dronebay and cargo with one click. Only thing I missed on this new one. _________________________________

KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid. That's the first thing all developers should know. The idea of the fitting is a good one, but it lacks functionality. We don't need an open circle in the middle... wasted space... unused. We don't need the wings that expand and contract. They are so cumbersome, when I fit, I don't want to be blocked out from everything else. Most of us fit, chat, and buy on the market what we need to fit at the same time. This GUI obliterates the ease we've been used to.
I'd like to buy an armor resist mod, grab it from my hangar, drop on my fitting, and see the results. Find a way to keep that scenario the most simplest form, and do that. This new GUI does not KISS.

When trying to load stuff excessing max cargohold like ammo or cap-rechargers into the cargo from the fitting window I got a silly alert that it won't fit. If I were to do the same not using the fitting screen but instead the old fashioned way, dump the **** in the cargo window I get a window where I can chose a correct amount instead.

Edited by: Paskis Robinson on 12/02/2009 22:24:39 +1 x "Sorry guys this is no good" generic comment.
Specifically I use station containers as folders - a container for high slot items, one for mid slot items, etc (because it's as close to 'folders' as Eve gets) and this fitting screen breaks it.
I run Eve in 1440x900 (widescreen 19") which may not be high res but it's not 1024x768 either. And yet the screen overlaps things (yes, you can close down the wingey bits but then I lose that information).
If I had to live with this and could change one thing only, I'd make it so I could pin/unpin it so at least I could read it.
