Hi. I'm wondering why i'm never able to find a named spawn. Not to mention the officiers... they are like legends to me. No matter how hard, for how long and in what deep space system i rat, i've n-e-v-e-r found one.
It's frutrating, expecially when you hear other people finding them very often and posting tens and tens of officier and faction mods in the chats.
Why did i post? Becouse i'm frustrated about this situation And maybe to get some advice on how to get them coming
Cheers. |

if you only want officers go to one of the pirate factions home regions (venal, curse, fountain..) there you will have highest chance to get a officer spawn, tru sec dont mather... around 0.1% of the spawns will be officers :P if you want faction spawns I sugest you do cosmic anomalys or whatever they are called... at the end you get a high chance to get a faction spawn. |

Does it help to clear all the belts? Or is it unecessary? |

Same thing is happening to me... I rat in Fountain. And in a few months of ratting, I have seen many faction spawns, but not a single officer... It is very frustrating. ♥ Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you, That is how I know you go on... |

In the many years i ahve been on and off NPCing, I finally got an officer couple weeks ago, then in the same week he spawned a 2nd time for me.
More or less its random. just kill, kill, and keep killing in 0.0 |

First, go to home region of faction. Second don't spawn.
In fountain, i get say one hauler spawn per 7 hours ratting, 1 faction per four haulers, and one officer in 6 months of game time. My corp of 60 members get about one officer each month. Officers are very very rare. |

What a bs. Why do you think Officer stuffs sells from 200m up? You know ratting some hours everyday makes you prolly kill more than 10000 spawns in a month, still I only hear of two or three officers in a 1000 man alliance. These spawns are totally random based (of course not by game engine, but for the normal user), so people telling me they get 3 officers a month is just pure luck.
I actually think less than 0.01% of all the 0.0 players have ever seen an officer.
Cosmic anomalies are crap for normal faction spawns, better rat and kill off everything. You should get at least one faction spawn every 10 hours ratting.

yeah it's totally random. Some ppl get lucky and some dont. I've played 3 years in 0.0 and i've never had one, but i've had really lucky normal faction spaws. My corp buddy found his 4th couple months ago, he has killed estamel once, setele once and kaikka twice.

I dunno... last time I was in 0.0 me and my friends got a officer every 2-3 days and we werent spending a lot of time npcing :P I got 3 in some weeks..
for every new spawn theres a chance it will be a officer.. dunno how high it is since I have no data.. maybe 0.01% then in npc home regions and 1% chance for faction spawn :) obviosly the other regions are crap for offier spawns. |

Really rare.
In 0.0 faction spawns are common enough..but still a pleasant find.. you could get a few in a day or have a dry spell for days even a week or so.
Officers not only live in certain regions but are still very rare in those places.
Lived in fountain with BRUCE for months and only ever hit one officer spawn. There are 5 Serp officers.
In fact I have spent most of my time in EVE living in or at least traveling (and ratting) in Serpentis spawn territory and in ALL my time have only found two.

I've gotten 3 faction spawns in 30 minutes before. It's just luck, that's all there is to it!

I've been testing and collecting statistics about the subject; now if I would get to finish writing the report some of these days, before the system gets changed..
Some semi-facts related to this question: - Every new 0.0 spawn generated has chance to be faction / officer - Chance of faction spawn is around one in 20 to one in 50 - Officer spawn chance may be significantly higher in those NPC sov/home regions (like Stain) - You could expect to get 20-40 times fewer officers than faction spawns. Meaning the chance is around one in 400 to 2000 on average. - Undisturbed spawns won't change. That is, if someone checked the system for faction spawns 10 hours ago, you won't find any either. - Farming reduces the chances of faction spawns to half or so.
* How to get max special spawns: - Move JC to some NPC sov home region (Stain, Venal, Fountain, etc)
- Setup some agile ship(s) able to kill toughest NPCs (high dps buffer tank). Ishtars are common way.
- After downtime warp from belt to belt and system to system, before someone else checks them.
- At other periods, keep clearing spawns in some comfy system (8-15 belts). True sec status doesn't matter in sov regions.
And, as last: looting a faction/officer ship is like winning in lottery. Most often you just get a few bucks, and only hear tales of those who got a jackpot.
-Lasse after 85 faction and 6 officer spawns |

what heikki said is most of it right ..if you rat in npc 0.0 you find officers faster second yes its indicated to use a fast ship like a zealot for sansha + blood or a ishtar for guristas / angels / serpentis the true sec status affects the system by spawning faster or less ...for instance system has -1.0 you got the highest chance to find faction even officer and most of the belts are ...triple 1.8m's or 1.7m rats my sugestion of ratting is like this : roam belts kill all the spawns ..except triple 1.7's and triple 1.8's that way if you dont find a officer or a faction at least u made good isk and yes its like winning the lottery ..i ratted in venal in a -0.999 system i got kaikka ..droped me a officer co-procesor + faction mods ..like 300 mil total if i remember right ..and when i ratted in deklein in "vfk" i had kaikka again ...droped me large booster / exp hardner / bcu + more expencive dg loot ...try probing for plex'es they drop better isk any way

What the post 2 posts up said is almost 100% dead on.
However, there are a few things you can do to increase faction spawns: Dont chain. Kill off the spawns and let the system reset.
if you begin a system, lets say the spawn has 3 Cruisers, and 2 Frigs. You kill them all off. And keep doing this so the progression is like (Example, not to be taking literrly) #1 3 cruisers #2 3 Battlecruisers #3 800k Battleship #4 1.25m battleship #5 1.5m battleship #6 1.85 Battleship
Once you kill the final spawn (in this case, 1.8) The system resets, and you begin again from the start. (Back to Cruisers) This is the time faction spawns are created. So lets say this math is true:
Reset: 80% Normal Spawn 20% Faction Spawn
Then if faction is selected: 75% chance Hauler 24% Chance Faction (Split further for size of faction) 1% Officer
From Faction spawn: 50% Frigate Faction 30% Cruiser Faction 20% Battleship Faction
This is my guess, I beleive in reality, the officer is off the last Battleship faction selection (it makes sense, since the Officers are always battleships)
So in short.. KILL EVERYTHING!
Or, do Cosmic Anomalies, they have a 50% chance of a Faction ship in the end. (From real hard data after 500+ CAs done in 0.0 space)
Also, DT resets ALL systems, so scan them quickly. More belts == More chance to find. I use to rat in a small pocket of 8 systems, with about 200 belts total in range. (Not all in those 8 systems) I use to get about 6 Haulers, and 3 Factions every night. Without fail.

Not familiar with this concept, nor spotted any support for such concept.
Rather, based initial glances on written observations from clearing 1k+ spawns in a few systems: - Each system has limit that tells how many spawns the system can have - Each time a spawn is generated, this is reduced by one. - Each time a spawn is killed wholly (or vanishes), and 20-25 mins has passed, this limit is increased by one
Content of each spawn seems to be independendly random; i.e. system does not have any memory of previous spwans (which could lead to cycles/resets). Chance to get faction/officer seems to be the same whether you scan belts after DT, or after hours of killing spawns.
Although even I have memories of plentiful 3x1850k spawns, observations don't seem to support that. Those are rare even in the best non-farmed systems; something like 2% of spawns has the top BS, and even fewer have three of them.
-Lasse trusting statistics over selective memory

We confirmed the system reset hypothesis back before the War.
We lived in a very under-populated region of Feyth and we knew that if we could turn on a system and not chain spawns, we could get a faction spawn in under 90 minutes. _______________ <Q> QUANT Hegemony Item Database

My officer experience:
Region: Fountain System: 7BX-6F True Sec: -0.76 Belts: 14
I ratted there in a sentry Dominix with a thrasher alt as salvager/scout for a little under 3 months.
My ratting technique was chain only triple 1.25M+, probably averaging at least 4 hours per day ratting. (I know, but I had capitals to buy)
During this time, approx 10-11 weeks, I personally hit three officers.
I can't recall the number of faction or hauler spawns -- but there was discussion of at least 6-8 faction spawns per day in the alliance, just in 7BX. Hauler spawns were just as numerous.
