Any suggestions on best ship for a POS gunner alt?
It is enough time just to get the skills trained up for POS Gunner, I was looking at a T2 Frigate and cloaking device to make sure the gunner can get to the POS to defend it. But is there a better ship to bring out to the POS? A cloaked Industrial to bring down a load of supplies or additional defenses to anchor? I like cats, especially with General Tso's sauce http://www.skamarakas.com/jim

Unless your in 0.0, ANY ship will do providing your able to warp to the tower.

Any ship should do, covops cloak will allow you to at try to break a blockade of system, depends on your starting point I guess.
Ship is pretty irrelevant now that the DD through shields w. password can no longer be done, so only a matter of getting to the tower.

Covert ops frigate was my most likely...but was looking at the time to make a cyno alt at the same time... I like cats, especially with General Tso's sauce http://www.skamarakas.com/jim

any ship will work for the gunning part. if your alt isn't already at the pos in question, then covops or a interceptor might be nice for getting to the pos quickly without dying. Maybe some type of logistics to help with repairing guns and or shields.
Might as well make it a toon to handle all aspects of pos logistics, so transport ships would be nice as well.

Yep, my original post didn't spell that out - spelling it out a bit more:
What is the best ship for a POS gunner to be able to get to a POS under attack? And then once at the POS, what is the best ship they could be flying around the POS in during a fight or when there is a lull in activity?
Logistics - is it better to come out in a Basilisk for shield repair or an Oneiros for armor repairing? I'm asking now to get some opinions before putting the time into spaceship command. Still have time to decide on best ship/race while working on the other common skills for the ships |

I'd still say covops for getting to the POS and for lulls in activity (probing out enemies that log off or crash).
Also, Guardian > Oneiros, because it can also transfer cap.

Then a force recon? Less Ozone and waiting around, but still get the cloaky. |

SO you have to fit both on a Force Recon ship Covert and normal?
Generates an undetectable cynosural field which only Black Ops jump drives can lock on to.
Note: can only be fitted on Black Ops, Covert Ops, Stealth Bombers and force Recon Ships. |

No, a force recon will work just fine with just a cov-ops cloak, plus it has the added benefit of having a cyno fuel consumption bonus.

Edited by: Irish Blend on 05/02/2009 06:45:59 My question wasn't about the cloak, it was about the cyno generator. But I did a typo on the first line but posted the correct item description...doh! |

If you leave the alt logged out at the POS which happens to be under attack then a Basilisk would be my choice. If it's a different POS then something with a Cov Ops cloak would be better... and I'd probably go with a Blockade Runner full of Stront. |

I usually prefer Viator or Falcon for that kind of job.

Prowler would be best for this; it can fit a covops cloak and a cyno. Plus it's all slinky and fast and such. |
