Suppose I pilot a frigate that takes frigates lvl 1 to fly.
Would getting frigates lvl 2 help me in any way at all to pilot that same ship?
What about all other ships besides a frigate? Kind of a broad question, but I think the answer might be the same for all ships.
I suspect that there are no bonuses, if there were it would be in the skill description.
Right?

The ship it self gets the bonus and every time you train that skill it needs it increases that bonus that the ship gets each lvl.

Edited by: Soap McColloch on 03/02/2009 03:14:45 Most ships if not all have bonuses for skill levels. An example is the Tormentor. It has "Special Ability: 5% bonus to cargo capacity and 20% bonus to mining laser yield per level." So for every level of the Frigate skill you would get the bonus; this would go to 25% bonus to cargo capacity and 100% bonus to mining laser yield at level 5.

As the others have pointed out, the bonus for the ship skills appears in the ship description as the effect of the skill is different for each ship. |

Yes, however it is the Battlecruiser skill not Minmatar Cruiser skill that the bonus is based on. So the minimum bonus is 10% to projectile weapons damage and rate of fire from the Battlecruisers II requirement. There is no benefit to training Minimatar Cruiser past level 3 if you are flying a Hurricane. |

Thanks to both for the reply. I meant to say just battlecruiser without the minmatar, slip of the pen on that one

Very usefull ingame:

This part of the interface can not be mentioned often enough.
Sometimes it is confusing as hell, but most of the times it ansers the question you were about to ask.
To answer the OP's question with his mentioned example: The Ibis.
The Caldari Ibis frigate is a small but stout frigate that fits admirably well as a cargo hauler or small-scale miner. Its reliability makes it a good choice for novice ship captains.
Special Ability: 10% bonus hybrid turret optimal range per skill level.
So at Caldari Frigate V you have 50% more optimal to you hybrid turrets. -----------------------------------------------
